ESPN’s Pac-12 Blog continues their series looking at what several Pac-12 teams must do to catch reigning Pac-12 champion Stanford. Next up: Utah.
X-factor: If the Pac-12 is driven by offense — and it is — then logic says this is a quarterback-driven league. Which it is.
Highly-touted, but not a fit for Chris Petersen in Seattle, Williams comes to Utah by way of Santa Monica College where he had tremendous success. He’s got Pac-12 experience, and Whittingham said that gives him a “leg up” in the competition to replace Wilson. He might be what Utah needs to get the offense back on track. He has dual-threat potential, but Utah doesn’t necessarily need a runner at the position. Some consistent accuracy in the pocket could be enough to take the pressure off of the defense.
We don’t have Mcaffrey for one. So there’s that.
I am still shocked he didn’t win the Heisman. If only they had beat Northwestern.
The kid got absolutely robbed. Had Derrick Henry played for any other school he would have lost and rightly so.
Everybody says he’s only a sophomore so he has two more years, but there are just too many variables in football. He might not put up quite the same stats he did last year. Could be wrong though. I wouldn’t mind seeing him win it.
I thought after his bowl performance, which was incredible, he would have sealed it. Lame.
Actually the Rose Bowl was after the Heisman Trophy Presentation. Perhaps you mean the Pac-12 Championship game in which he also had a stellar performance?
OH right, against USC. My bad. That was it.
By the way, is he coming back this next season or going to the NFL?
He’s only a sophomore so he has to play at least one more year. He’ll be a junior when the 2016 football season begins so he has 2 years to play if he chooses.
The team with the best Defense (total defense) has won all five PAC 12 championship games. NCAA national Offense is in the first column. Defense the second. Defense is 5/0 in these games. The best Offense lost three of the five.
