2021: it would be between #11 Utah and #12 Pitt for the 5th conference autobid. Does the committee still jump 10-3 Utah 6 spots for beating Oregon in the CCG and rank higher than 11-2 Pitt? Bama, Michigan, Cincy & Baylor get the byes.
2022: it would be between #8 Utah and #9 K State for the last bye. Does the committee jump 10-3 Utah 3 spots…[Read more]

Everything is a binary choice and he’s the guy making the decisions. We can only evaluate what did happen, not whether a different option would have produced a different outcome.
The problem is that we’re not allowed to have an honest conversation about Whitt. Point out a specific failure and someone will pop up saying “but 20 years of…[Read more]

Regarding the CFP. If the current system had been in place when Utah was winning two Pac-12 titles, then they would have been in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Utah, the new system coincides with the worse season in 22 years.

It’s basically unknowable, but could the season have played out differently if Rose had been named the back up instead on Wilson? At the beginning of the season you play Wilson in garbage time to get him experience to build on, but when Cam gets hurt, I think, in hindsight, you need a back up who has been in the program longer. Of course, Whit…[Read more]

The Pac was badly managed — as demonstrated by its dissolving in 2023. But joining the Pac was Utah’s Jefferson’s moment (movin’ on up). With apologies to the Big 12 — obviously better managed and still extant — the move was a lateral one from one power conference to another, and a bit of a move to a lifeboat (again, apologies to the Big 12,…[Read more]

I think ASU is giving you guys a run for most hated fan base in the Conference. They were a disgrace yesterday. BYU is surprisingly liked by this new league. Give it a few years though, and hopefully we will be most hated again. That would mean that we are winning consistently. Also, the religious bigotry always is a big factor.

1. 16 years ago. This accomplishment is old enough to drive. It’s great, but it’s getting dusty.
2. Thanks to Texas and not being BYU or Boise State. In the timeline where Texas accepts the PAC12 offer, we’re not in a power conference.
3. Genuinely impressive to go back to back in any conference. No critiques, it’s the best thing he has going for…[Read more] -

No Tanuvasa last night either. That’s a big one. Anyone else notice that Iowa St. was smart enough to pick on Vaughn every time they could tell he was in man coverage? They know he isn’t a threat to get a pick because he can’t locate the ball. Know he’s handsy and will likely get penalties. The one time he found the ball he was in bail with do…[Read more]

It’s not just one bad season. You have to look at all of the circumstances. At media day he says he won’t be around to coach the 2027 opener. No doubt he has earned the opportunity to turn things around if he had even 5 years left. But right now he is a lame duck coach and keeping him, at least from my perspective, is a bad idea. The offense nee…[Read more]

My response was mostly a joke, considering the “season” is one more game. However, if I had to guess, Wilson will be out because his injury looked pretty bad. I would be surprised if Tanuvasa or Fillinger play because why would they risk further injury in a meaningless game? And as far as Bernard, I didn’t know he got hurt.

Well, here’s the thing Aloha…it all depends on what Utah wants to be. If it wants to sit at the college football “big boy” table, then there’s more than enough evidence that sticking with Whitt isn’t going to get them there. If it wants to remain a middling power, then by all means stick with Whitt until his contract runs out at the end of the…[Read more]

You complete idiots who want Whit fired over one bad season are utterly ridiculous.
Whit deserves all the criticism he’s getting this season. He should be getting crushed for it and he is. But you don’t fire one of the great coaches in the country over one bad season after 20 years of success.

Yet lowly Utah who had been irrelevant prior to that except the year before managed to go:
1. Undefeated in 2008 and finished 2nd in the country
2.Got promoted to the Pac 12
3. Won 2 Pac12 Championships
4. Played in two Rose Bowls
5. Has one of the highest % of weeks ranked in the CFP rankings
The offensive struggles are super annoying and…[Read more]

We went 8-4 with them last year against the toughest schedule in program history. Safe to say 8-4 would be the floor with this schedule.

Sooooo there’s reasons why those scores and games have been that way outside of just the qb. Is it the main problem? Obviously. But the coaching has been shit. The adjustments have been shit. The handling of the entire offense has been shit. The defense is exhausted. The locker room drama, fighting etc with the skill position players. There’s man…[Read more]
