I just hope we can somehow find a way to make a defense pay for constant blitzes and stacking the box. Something other than a run up the middle. Geez.

For what it is, I’m optimistic. He was quality control and a quarterback coach in the NFL for about 7 years. He’s with Isaac on the sidelines after every possession. He’s a high functioning brain. I’ll take it.

Lasso is correct. Top-5 highest ranked conference champions make it, and the top-4 ranked conference champions get the top 4 seeds regardless of P4 vs. G5(6). So, theoretically the MWC champ could be ranked higher than the lowest P4 champ.

If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure the top 4 seeds are the highest ranked conference champions. So a G5 conference champion can still get a 1st Round Bye if they are ranked higher than a P4 champion.

Top four seeds are P4 conference champions. No way Boise can be a top 4 ahead of Big12 champ or any other P4 champ.

How are you feeling about the OC change? I have to admit it makes me nervous. I think changing a coach can make a pretty sizable difference at times. Even if the offense is great and just competent, that could be enough to put Utah over the edge against BYU. I still think Utah’s defense is pretty good, even if it’s not as strong as past years.

We had plenty of reasons for optimism. Two time Rose bowl QB and plenty of weapons. A young but talented O line. Only question on offense was RB. Bernard is the offensive MVP. Defense front seven returning and talented but unproven secondary.

Ludwig’s system could be good under certain circumstances. His offense was built around using formations and motions to show the QB certain things about the defense. The last two seasons with Cam were frustrating but he still won two Pac 12 championships and led Utah to two Rose Bowls. For me, he is up there as one of the best Utah qb’s of all time just for that.

He was also with the Bears, four years with Buccaneers. If nothing else he can be a functioning, competent 🧠 at OC for the remainder of the season.

At this point I am hopeful the offense can improve enough to win two more games and get bowl eligible to get the extra practices especially for Isaac as the future. That is where my expectations are.

It can’t get much worse than it was. I would think that Bajakian has been watching the way the season has gone, has seen things he would do but couldn’t because it isn’t his offense. Now that he is in over the offense, hopefully he will play to Isaac’s strengths. The offense won’t take that much improvement to make a huge difference in games.
