Bummed for Cam, he certainly didn’t envision his last year going like this. I wish him the best and I wouldn’t be upset to see him play again if he can.
Moving forward, it’s nice to have some certainty and predictability. Whit hasn’t handled the injuries piece well. Hope this is a change of culture.

Announcing IW as this week’s starter is a good first step. I don’t want to simulate Whitt’s thought process regarding rest of year.
I wish for all involved, most importantly the team, this would be settled and IW made QB1 and Rose QB2 rest of year. I don’t even want to think about the potential for continued whiplash with Cam’s status, maddening.

Welcome, brother. College football is wild. Which is why we love the highs and keep putting ourselves through misery. You guys won 5 games last season and ended the year on a 5 game losing. Now you’re 1 or 2 wins away from top 10 with basically the exact same team. Remarkable and very admirable. I can really respect a team like that which sticks…[Read more]

Totally agree, Tony. Since when is the player (in this case, one that is obviously injured) in charge of making decisions on who plays. This is why the ASU loss is totally on the coaching staff.
Ever since Baylor, it was a back and forth with talk about the doctor’s making the call, and he was ‘close’ to being ready. Where were the doctors on…[Read more]

Not surprising, but here it is.
Whittingham opens the press conference: "Tough weekend in Tempe, Cam Rising is out indefinitely, Isaac Wilson will be our starter until further notice."

Welcome to Ute Hub. Opposing fans and guests are all welcome! Trolls, which you obviously are not, not so much. We’re all puzzled as to why Cam was left in the game. I suspect Wilson is as well. When questioned, Coach said something to the effect that Cam wanted to play or felt he could play. To that I ask who is in charge?

I’ve started eating long maple bars, Creamery Ice Cream and watching Vid-Angel Pg-13 Movies and even saying Heck, Gosh darn, son of a biscuit, flip, fetch, fudge, and I recently started looking at buying a mini-van. I spent the Sabbath watching old videos of Jimmer and wondering why he never got a fair shot in the NBA, pondering whether Taysom…[Read more]

BYU fan here…
I watched the ASU game. I legit don’t know what Whit was thinking. Rising couldn’t move..that was BEFORE he got rolled up on. I have no idea why they didn’t go to Wilson. He’s been goodish. But Rising was unplayable. Truly one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen.
One more thought…I honestly think there was some hubris by…[Read more]

Or move to get out of trouble or run for a first down. If you can’t throw you better be able to run.

Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if the Under Armour cleats have something to do with it. It seems like a lot of the avoidable injuries have been lower body/leg injuries that could easily be affected by the cleat, and Under Armour just has been going downhill for a while now. Obviously strength and conditioning should be looked at but I’m curious…[Read more]

Thanks for the insight Ghost. We as fans have no clue what’s going on inside the locker room. We have weapons but Rising can’t throw and Wilson is being nurtured. Seems we are not utilizing our offensive talent. Maybe we need a college style offense instead of a pro style?

I’m not sure I buy that. I think Whitt is pretty tone deaf on what fans want. I think Whitt actually thought that Rising would play well and that the next series was when he would start putting it together. Unfortunately, games only last 60 minutes and time ran out.

Playing with an injury AND being completely ineffective is what seals the deal. It’s one thing to be injured and still be competent. It’s quite another to be injured and miss easy completions because you can’t throw a football accurately.

Massive pressure from fans demanding the return of Cam Rising (only to be hurt within a few plays) made it difficult to pull him. If they had put Isaac in and he struggled, some fans would have been screaming about it.
Damn I hate injuries.

I agree Miami. I’m a huge Cam fan and I would have taken him out when it was clear he was hurt. Playing through an injury is one thing. Playing through two injuries (hand and leg)is impossible.
