      Belated, from Saturday…

      #28 Sione Vaki, Freshman Safety, 6-0 208

Sione comes to the Utes from Liberty HS in Brentwood, Calif (east of Oakland) after a two-year mission.  At Liberty Sione was a 3-star recruit who played DB, WR and kick returner and was the MVP of the Bay Valley region his senior year (2018) as his team won the region championship, 2nd in state.  All-Bay-Valley on ohfense and defense.  As a DB he had 73 tackles (1.0 TFL), 4 INTs (1 TD), 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.  As a kick returner he had 111 yds (1 TD) and 96 in punt returns.   At Utah he joined the Utes for spring semester so participated in spring camp and logged 4 tackles and one assisted TFL in the spring game.   With a strong and deep safey room, Sione may redshirt or see limited game action in 2022.

      #28 Pierre Moudourou, Senior WR, 6-1 208

Though his name sounds like the ambassador from France, Pierre is a transfer from Monroe College.  He was born in Paris, though.  He went to High School in Connecticut where he competed in track as well as WR and CB in football, winning conference championship in the 4×100.  He played at Hanc**k College in Calif prior to Monroe; most remarkable thing about his JUCO & college stats is he scored 1 touchdown for every 2 catches.   He walked-on at Utah in spring of 2020, and has not seen game action for the Utes.   Just guessing, but likely a scout player who may see some special teams time.

Good to know, his HS senior season stats, region MVP and all-region selection on both sides of the ball are pretty impressive accomplishments.  Hopefully he didn’t lose a step in the 3 subsequent years.
