Our offensive line still sucks ballsack at pass-pro, but they are getting better. They can’t pick up a blitz, but at least they can block when they aren’t outnumbered now.
We needed to get Jordan the ball more, and we did.
We needed to not turn it over, and we didn’t turn it over (well, we turned it over on downs, but you know what I mean).
We needed to get more pressure on the QB, and I felt like our team did a better job of that, though it still wasn’t quite up to our standard of production there.
Next week’s goals: Clean up the penalties on defense, work on third and short situations. If we improve on those two things, and stay status quo on the rest, we’ll win the rest of our games without much issue.
Game 1: 5 turnovers
Game 2: 4 turnovers
Game 3: 0 turnovers
That’s the difference between winning and losing. If Utah commits 3+ turnovers last night, they lose.
Talk all you want about Bentley, the penalties on defense, 3rd-and-short, or whatever, but Whit is right: If Utah takes care of the ball, Utah usually wins.
I thought Bentley was payed good, contrary to others, it looked to me like he threw the ball away at the receivers feet several times as opposed to throwing a risky pass that might get picked.
Now that I think about it, Bentley should have had two picks
He definitely should’ve been picked off twice.
.. He left 14 points off the field with two of those throws and they weren’t difficult passes to make. He’s hard to watch; especially after watching Huntley all of last year. Miss Ericksons recruiting
Agree, Jordan and run game looked better. Probably as much to do with OS defense not at the level of UW or USC. However the guys from last year got replaced by the three freshman on the oline really does make them young so they will continue to get better. Jordan, Brumfield, Bernard are looking good.
I bet we lose some good RBs to transfer portal with Ty Jordan starting and playing well.
A sad but true fact – and a good problem to have. I’m sure Jordan Wilmore is NOT happy right now.
But Ty is just killing it. It was evident in the first game that there’s a tangible difference in their level of play.
