and they also lost… so we are now one of 3 south teams to lose to Washington.
Translation: The loss to Washington means virtually nothing in the south race
Translation of the translation: RELAX
ASU had two fewer fumbles lost, and got screwed by officials much less than we did (didn’t watch the game, just making what I assume to be a safe assumption).
Wilkins: 104 yards passing on 17/27… ZERO TDs
Benjamin: Just over 100 yards, 4 ypc, 1 TD… Wilkins also with a rushing TD.
268 total yards
UTAH
261 yards
1 INT thrown by Huntley, and significantly worse completion percentage.
3 lost fumbles
Moss had over 5 ypc, but only had 13 damned carries (and he was playing on two bum ankles)
WE ARENT THAT BAD GUYS! Our defense is way better than ASUs… and our offense isn’t a ton worse if we can just hold on to the damn ball.
The problem is that our O just looked absolutely inept and they were inept not because they got beat, but because they beat themselves with drops, bad reads, and fumbles. Those things just shouldn’t be happening and they are. And drops and bad QB reads have been a decade-long problem. If we had a competent offense we would be so much better off, but we don’t our offense is bad. But, such badness can be corrected.
I’m not arguing that our offense doesn’t stink… but there is a possibility that it isn’t nearly as bad as it seems. Run the ball a little more, catch a few more of those dropped balls, don’t throw stupid picks in scoring position… That game is a whole hell of a lot closer and the offense looks much less inept.
This season is not over. The south is just as much in reach as it was last week.
True. But, there does seem to be a pattern in Taylor’s offense to not feed your best player on offense, ZM. Feed Moss and make it look like ZR and then bust out the ZR when needed in the red zone or for a critical first down.
2 lost fumbles… so so so sorry
Well some would say the PAC12 is protecting it’s ranked teams. Just sayin.
could be true… Seems like they have it out for Blair
UW hasn’t really been subject to questionable calls, but at least two have gone against their opponents at critical times. Not saying it’s true but it is an odd occurrence.
Looks like they just about tripled the number of points we scored against UW, and on the ROAD. So….
The thing is ASU has better athletes. Also, they still lost and yeah they nearly tripled the score but, barring some mental mistakes, Utah could have roughly the same score.
I think the point is ASU’s O didn’t fair significantly better than Utah’s.
Correction: ASU has one superior athlete (compared to Utah or anyone else in the conference not named Stanford), the “athlete” grade for the rest of their offense looks more like Utah/Cal than Oregon/USC. Speaking of ASU last night wasn’t it good to see the 2015-2016 Utah playbook dusted off and ran by someone else. haha
NOpe. All hope is lost, and we need to fire WHittingham and the entire coaching staff or else we will not be satisfied!
/s
UW has a really good defense, every frigging year. I don’t know why people can’t take that into account.
Yet Utah knocked on the door and had chances. Many were wide open with drops and poor passes. That is why we are p**sed off we have seen this game film before.
No! I refuse to beleive that any outside variable beyond the coaches or teams control could possibly be the cause or part of a cause of something that could be perceived as an actual cause of problems with our team! #burntheboats (haha) We seriously need to see if the conference could allow us to play a FCS school next year before the bye week just for the mental health of the fanbase. Based on the current tenor of the board I am pretty sure last week some of the posters had to explain to co-workers that “Jamie is going to be staying at her parents for a while, we are just figuring some stuff out.” haha
