I know we are just past playing our arch rival and there are still a lot of raw emotions. I am as happy about our win as anyone but realize there are more important things.
I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday afternoon who just lost a grandson to suicide. It was very sad. It reminded me that there are a lot of people out there that I know who are suffering physically, emotionally or mentally. I decided that I need to reach out to some of these people. It’s amazing what a little caring or simply listening can do.
Take a few minutes today and reach out to someone who may just need to talk.
Go Utes!!!
Any BYU-P fan you know would probably be a good candidate today.
I laughed at your joke because it was funny but also would like to emphasize the serious side of ProudUte was saying. There are people out there there that are just barely hanging on. Sometimes, it’ll be clear that they need a friend, an ear, a distraction, or just to know someone cares.
Yeah, admittedly that was somewhat in poor taste. But the timing is just so perfect given the circumstances.
On a serious note, I agree 100% with what ProudUte said. We’re always looking at those around us who just need a hand up and saying “I hope somebody can help that poor person.” Well, we are that somebody!
I just realized I didn’t type the second part of my last sentence. Basically, I meant to say that sometimes it’ll be clear, other times it won’t. Some depressed people are surprisingly good at hiding what they are fighting.
We have a friend who’s wife just got diagnosed with stage 4 internal Melanoma. It’s really, really bad. They are huge BYU fans, we had their son over to our place to watch the game yesterday with us. Somethings are just bigger than football.
BYU’s marketing did a fundraising spotlight on cancer in the stadium during the game last night. It was actually very touching.
I really appreciated Bernard giving love to his time in Provo during the presser. The fans tend to make the game more ugly than the players. Thank you for the reminder that life is more important than a game.
