So our D-Line (and defense overall) got very little pressure on Wilkins last week. This allowed their receivers (especially Harry) to get open and Wilkins picked us apart. On the rare occasions when we did get pressure, Wilkins did not play well. Nothing surprising there.

If we allow Herbert to sit back and be comfortable in the pocket on Saturday, we’re likely looking at a repeat of last week.

We’ve seen this earlier this year too, WSU comes to mind. Why can’t our vaunted D-Line get pressure on a QB? Anae and Tupai have had some sacks/hurries, but certainly not up to the production that was expected. Nobody seems to be able to get off a block, even if Fotu is being double teamed in the middle. How do we dial up the pressure?

The back end of the defense also needs to be brought into the conversation. Luckily, Harry was the best WR that we will see all season. He exposed Johnson, Guidry and Blackmon last week. Oregon’s WRs are good, but not like Harry. Hopefully our DBs can lock them down a little bit more.

I know this rambled a bit. But the heart of the question is how do we get some QBs on the ground or at the very least force them to make some poor decisions?

Ute Dline has a lot going things going for it…quickness is not one of them.

While kwhitt gets tree trunk recruits to clog up the lanes he often comes up short with truely athletic DT and DE.

This is quite possibly one of your worst takes.

Disagree. Anae, Penisini and Fotu are very quick for there size. And Tupai has been a beast. So hope, Penei Seewell, OREGONS stud LT is stil Hitt with high ankle sprain. And there all conference center is out the first half after a targeting penalty last week. AZ got pressure on Herbert all day. If they can why can’t Utah. I like the matchup of our D v there O. The key is going to be whether or not Shelly makes mistakes. We have to play a perfect game. We will see

The center is out for targeting? That has to be a first where an offensive lineman is ejected for targeting.

Just watched the replay on FS2 (they’re replaying the game) and yes, that was absolutely targeting. The center hit #41 of UCLA on a blindside block during a reverse play by Oregon and hit him in the earhole with the crown of his helmet. The UCLA defender was looking at the runner and didn’t see the center coming. If the center had hit him in the body it would have been a huge (crowd cheering and cringeworthy) hit, but a legal one.

Utah and Arizona could not be more different defensively. Arizona currently utlizes smaller, quicker lineman and run a different base scheme than we do.
