I don’t care who we force to enter the portal to free up a schalorship or what else we have to do but offer this man a starting spot ASAP.

That kid has problems no thanks

MDUteParticipant
The kid looks amazing! Why wouldn’t we want him? What problems does he have??

Once again, can Kendrick play on the offensive line?? That’s where we need like 5 more P5 players. I am not letting this go until it is addressed.

Clemson247 received official confirmation on Sunday morning that Clemson starting cornerback and senior Derion Kendrick was dismissed by Dabo Swinney. Kendrick missed multiple games during the 2020 season for disciplinary reasons and we’re told that it’s been much of the same behavior-wise for Kendrick in 2021. Swinney had enough.

MDUteParticipant
Ok but this brings Darren Carrington to mind. He had similar issues at Oregon and was dismissed. Whit gave him a second chance on a tight leash and he was terrific for us. I doubt we even have a shot at getting this kid so it’s probably a moot point…but in our hypothetical world, why wouldn’t we give a second chance to a kid that talented? Clemson can give up on 4 and 5* kids all day long because their entire team consists of them. We don’t have that luxury.
-
CharlieParticipant
I like to give second chances and I think Whitt is very good at that process. It makes much more sense when you have a hole and the position group that really needs help. Currently, we don’t have a hole in the QB group and have awesome options for the future. Not at all the same need that we had when we brought in Carrington. No need to add any distraction to the full QB room.
-
MDUteParticipant
I agree we don’t need another QB…Kendrick is a CB and we could definitely use another CB of his talent.
-
bopahullParticipant
Charlie, Kendrick is a corner back. I don’t think he would have much of an effect on the QB room. We don’t really need a corner as much as we need O line and receiver.
-
CharlieParticipant
Goodness, I missread the position. Useless comment.

I could very well be wrong but I don’t remember Carrington’s problems at Oregon being team related. He kept getting into legal trouble and had a least one DUI (or whatever it’s called in Oregon).
From all accounts that I remember, Carrington was viewed as a great teammate at both schools.
-
MDUteParticipant
You’re probably right. TBH, I don’t remember what the exact situation was with Carrington. I just remember Whitt was willing to give him a second chance and keep him on a really short leash. And it turned out really well for DC as well as the team.

Yeah I mean just keep him on a tight leash. He can really only do more good than harm.
-
UtesbyfiveParticipant
If Dabo Swinney couldn’t put up with him, I doubt the Utes can.
