      31. Utah Utes

      ESPN 300 commits: 3 | Previous ranking: 33

      Pac-12 rank: 5 of 12
Top offensive commit: RB Michael Mitchell (No. 258)
Top defensive commit: S Johnathan Hall (three stars)

The Utes continue to build off their on-field success to gain some nice wins on the recruiting trail. Two dynamic offensive pickups out of California are Carlos Wilson and Dijon Stanley. Stanley is a speedster and can be a versatile weapon at RB, while Wilson, who projects to WR, can be productive as he is sudden with good ball skills. They went into Arizona to beat several Pac-12 foes for ESPN 300 OL Caleb Lomu, who has an excellent frame to develop and good flexibility. The Utes have had success in Florida with signings such as Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss. They returned there to land ESPN 300 RB Mitchell, who brings a nice blend of size, speed and strength.

Lyons or Clegg or Fano or Snowden would be a good boost

Often Utah collects some of the best recruits late in the process. We know there are some top teams that simply pick before us and there are great pieces that drop into our tier. CB is a good example in recent cycles. Next the portal has really changed things. Evaluating recruiting this early, even after the first signing date, is not useful. It is good to see a favorite commit and stick but there is a very big part of the picture currently not in view. Keep dry powder for January.
