Been crunching some numeros again. Surprised to find that since 2011, the average score of a Pac-12 conference game is 39.2-21.6. That’s a larger spread (17.6 points) than I expected.

On average, the winning team scores 81% more points than the loser.

Also note that the home team wins 53.1% of the time. I believe the higher this number rises above 50%, the more parity exists in a league (as the home-field advantage has a larger effect). I could be wrong.

But after looking at the numbers for the Big 10 and the SEC in that same time period, I found there is slightly more parity in the Pac-12 than in those other two conferences:

      Big 10:
Avg. Score: 34.8-18.5 (winner scores 88% more points than the loser).
      Avg. Spread: 16.3 points.
Home team wins 50.6% of the time.

      SEC:
Avg. Score: 33.6-17.3 (winner scores 94% more points than the loser).
      Avg. Spread: 16.3 points.
Home team wins 52.6% of the time.

I should mention that in Utah’s Pac-12 games since 2011, the average score has been: Utah 25.4, Opponent 27. And the home team has won 51.1% of the time.

The actual average score in Utah’s games is Winner 32.8, Loser 19.7 (avg. spread: 13.1 points; winner scores 66% more points than the loser).
