There are several geographic regions in the US which overlap.

Rust belt, Midwest, Deep South, plains, Pacific Northwest, etc.

When I lived in Virginia I told someone I was from the intermountain west and they said I made it up. Anyone else have a more localized region many may not be aware of?

I was thinking about this because I am biased to the left 1/3 of the US and loved the PAC, MWC, and WAC. My heart isn’t in the Big. Yes I realize the MWC had TCU.

I kinda view the mountain states as one big related geography, even though there are sub regions within. Usually when im chatting with my Euro colleagues, I say the mountain states in the western US or something.

Southern Appalachia: an area with parts of Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, is seeing a lot of population growth.

Gulf Coast – within an hour or less from FL panhandle around to Texas
      Heartland
      Great Plains
      Mid-Atlantic (North and South)

Just saw a new one: Appohzarka – basically Appalachia and NW Ark, So MO, East OK. I can see how some culture in those areas are close
