LOOKING AT 2022
Utah will return 17 starters, including eight on offense and six on defense along with all three specialists.
- The Utes bring back three of their five starting offensive linemen (Keaton Bills, Sataoa Laumea, Braeden Daniels) in addition to Jaren Kump, who started all five games in 2020 and in four in 2021 before suffering a season-ending injury.
- Out of the 3,000 receiving yards that the Utes produced in 2021, 2,111 will return in 2022, including 1,121 returning from tight ends Brant Kuithe and Dalton Kincaid.
- Utah saw 22 different players earn at least one start on defense in 2021 with 13 returning in 2022. Of those 13, nine will still be underclassmen (Junior Tafuna, Aliki Vimahi, Van Fillinger, Karene Reid, Zemaiah Vaughn, Faybian Marks, Clark Phillips III, Kamo’i Latu, Cole Bishop).
- The Utes also return eight of their 15 all-Pac-12 honorees from 2021, highlighted by first-team offensive selections Cameron Rising and Tavion Thomas.

Does anybody know how long Broughton, Marks, and Vaughn are expected to out? Will they be back for Spring Camp?
What would you have given for a healthy Broughton opposit Phillips during the Ohio State game?
If broughton were able to break up just one of those huge passing plays we win. Having him would have made all the difference.
I’m sorry but charging money for a scrimmage is kinda dumb
All the big time schools do it.
You should be sorry. You’re aware the proceeds going to the Ty Jordan Aaron Lowe scholarship fund, and you make that comment? WTF?
I was about to point that out. If I were in Utah you bet I would happily pay for tickets to that “scrimmage”.
Meh. I see both sides. It’s for a good cause, but also it’s been a tradition for decades to go to the scrimmage for free.
Your preferred tradition for decades never had to deal with the death of two players and the opportunity to honor them to ensure a positive benefit comes out of these tragedies.
Thanks, ass! I never said it’s my preferred tradition. I said I could see both sides.
As you so eloquently said…meh…
Glad we’re in agreement.
Alright I guess that’s for a good cause and I didn’t know. I just remember when money was tight for us that the spring game was our only opportunity to see our Utes. I just wish it was free for that reason and that they use our tickets from last year to support the scholarship program. LLTJAL
New funding sources needed to be identified because the ticket revenue was already obligated. Couple that problem with a large operating deficits from the 2020 truncated season.
