He has consistently been one of the best AD’s in the country during his tenure.  If he is retiring, it will be a big loss to the U.

Meanwhile, down south, the AD has added to his streak of cratering programs at CAL by pulling BYU out of almost guaranteed BCS membership with Boise and TCU in football, moving football into preferred Thursday night slots and basketball into parochial high school gyms across California. Blowing negotiations with Big East and Big XII. The difference the last 10 years is so stark that it seems retrograde or mean to compare BYU to Utah.

Perhaps there were some negatives to his tenure but all one has to do as Duhwayne has eloquently stated above is compare UTah to that holier than thou private institution 50 miles south. The divergence in the 2 schools couldn’t be any greater during Hill’s tenure.
