Unless some real changes are made I think the PAC12 is just wasting money. At least they are admitting that there is a problem.
Perception can become reality when it comes to image, so here’s to hoping this PR firm can help. Ultimately, the results of games are what matter most. It is crazy how bad the Pac12 is this year in hoops…crazy. Potentially a 1-bid league. That should never happen.
As for football, the quickest solution to improving the wins/losses would be to go to an 8-game league schedule (essentially gives every conference team one more win and one less loss). There are definitely cons to this fix, but it could happen quick and would make an immediate difference.
Correction: an 8 game conference schedule gives half of the conference one more potential win. Somebody has to win those 9th conference games.
Ah yes, good point.
BUT, it changes things drastically. If WSU doesn’t play USC early in the year, they roll into the last game undefeated. How does that game go with WSU having a playoff spot in the line?
Probably the same. Weather didn’t help them either.
Oh brother.
Finally they realize that the conference’s value is dropping like a stone with renewal of P5 tv contracts on the horizon.
At least they are admitting that there is a problem.
Are they though? Sounds like they’re admitting that they need to figure out how to try and positively spin and position the problem, but I’m still not sure they care that the problem actually exists.
Not enough to do anything about it, anyways.
Well, until we see what the PR campaign actually does, we won’t know.
Maybe they can run their PR campain on the Pac-12 Network!
Now on less than 20% of American Televisions!!!
