I can’t remember if it was here or UFN, but someone had put together a percentage breakdown of how long BYU has had the lead in rivalry games over the past 15 years. It was something like 3%, IIRC.
Wondering if anyone has a link to that breakdown. I’d like to update it to include this year’s game, and forward it to a couple of the mouthy Zoobs in my office.
If you factor in the passing and rushing yards in games that they loss though in reality you will find that Utah has never lead BYU and only luck has gave them victory.
Which gives more credibility to the fact that when you live right on and off the field, the Lord steps in and magic happens.
Yup. This loss is clearly Francis Benard’s fault for getting himself a disturbance citation. Should have been inside preparing to go to the temple.
Don’t forget the times when they felt like they were winning. So maybe 4 minUtes of this past game.
Found it! A guy on FB posted the updated totals this morning. BYU has led for 2.9% of the games since 2011. LOL
2011- Heaps to Apo, 10-7 BYU. Lead lasted 5:51 until Wynn found Murphy. Utah led for 52:25 of the game clock thanks to Heaps fumbling the ball into his end zone and Shelby recovering.
2012- BYU never led. Utah led for only 26:59 of the game clock.
2013- BYU never led. Utah led for 46:30 of the game clock.
2014- No game
2015- BYU never led. Utah led for 54:01 of the game clock.
2016- BYU led for 3:49 when Hill ran a nice sprint down the east sideline. Williams found Patrick under 4:00 later. Utah led for 55:15 of the game clock thanks to the ST pick 6.
2017- BYU never led. Utah took the lead with 6:22 left in first quarter. Utah led for 51:38 of the game clock.
Including the 2017, Utah has now led for 79.66% of the game clock vs BYU since 2011. BYU has now led for 2.9% of the game clock, with the score tied for 17.44% of the clock. Of that 17.44%, only 1/3 of that time came after to Utah’s first score of any game. The only time a game was tied after Utah scored first was 2012. There was a 20:00 period between 7-0 to 7-7 in the 2nd quarter. The other 2/3 of the tie time came in the first quarter before Utah’s first score. Wow!
Haha. Losers.
