ParticipantI read that Salesi Moa will be announcing his commitment today but haven’t seen any news.
Is there any recent rumor or does anyone know the when/where for the announcement? -
WasatchRanger
ParticipantI read on a Tennessee fan website he pushed it back

ParticipantThanks for sharing. I don’t know how to feel about that but I lean pessimistic.

ParticipantI was on a walk up in Plain City today and saw one of his coaches working out with a couple of Silverwolves. I asked him where Salesi was going… He said he hopes it’s Utah, and with our recent commitments it looks good, but his gut is telling him Michigan. Apparently he loved his trip up there. Keeping my expectations low, but I still think we’ve got a shot.

Central Coast Ute
ParticipantThis means he’s going to Michigan.

ParticipantI believe he has an older brother on Michigan State’s roster. If I were to guess, he was a Utah lean, and then big brother pushed back on it. It might come down to whether he wants to play “with” family (re: Mich St), or “in front of” family (re: Utah).
GO UTES!!!

ParticipantIf he’s anything like the rest of his family he will underperform. Not saying he is, but I won’t lose any sleep over him.

Ute Dub
ParticipantBen Moa’s 6 TD’s his senior year as a TE in the spread offense was an under-performance?

ParticipantI was referring to his siblings.

ParticipantAccording to Alex Markham on X, SM delayed his commitment date before Steve Wiltfong entered an expert prediction to us.

ParticipantIf he’s delaying that means the $ is still creeping upward

Participantif he LOVES UTAH he wouda committed ALREADY which means he doesn’t luv Utah and it’s about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
AT this point I wouldn’t COUNT ON HIM committing and would cut him loose IN OUR MINDS
*** I GUESS THEY STOPPED POSTING THE X PREDICTION TO UTAH SINCE HE POSTPONED IT *** GOOD!!! I was getting so sick and tired of those stupid X post predictions! If he comes he comes, if he doesn’t he doesn’t! Let’s quit putting this kids on damn peda stool like their gods gift to the world! GO UTES!!!

PhiladelphiaUte
ParticipantIt’s “pedestal”. Not “peda stool”.
-
Ute Dub
ParticipantThanks! I’ll log that note in the peda file.

ParticipantI hope he comes. If he’s thinking at all long-term Utah should be the choice given our coaching and the defense we play. Moa has all the intangibles to be an NFL free safety. Add our legacy at the safety position and we should be highly considered as long as the NIL is reasonable. I think BYU should get second consideration there given their defense and coaching now.
Anyway, I hope he stays in the state and comes our way.

ParticipantSM’s not at all considering the zoobs.
Also, it’s my understanding we want him to start out at WR.
But I agree, he has all the tools necessary to be an ELITE FS under MS.

ParticipantThat’s interesting DT. I know he’s a strong receiver as well. He’d certainly pair well with the Pula kid. Dare I suggest letting him play two-way a little if he comes our way?
Thanks for setting me straight. Perhaps that makes us a little less enticing except he probably gets an opportunity for playing time even sooner on the offensive side of the ball.

Participanthaha, that is a good question. It is hard to tell with the way these threads are organized. It was in reply to Utah#1’s post.

ParticipantI haven’t seen any official news about Salesi Moa’s announcement yet either. Usually these things get shared through the club’s social media or a quick press conference, so if it’s happening today, I’d expect it later this afternoon or evening. I’d keep checking their Twitter or Instagram since that’s where these updates tend to show up first.

Will Fisher
ParticipantHe pushed it back to July 9th according to Blair Angelo on Utezone( an Utah insider and has connections with Moa) it’s a two team race between us and Tennessee.

ParticipantAny update on July 9th. Haven’t seen anything

ParticipantIf he wants to be a “Utah man” because of NIL, I’d rather he go to Tennessee than Utah. Let’s be real, he’d only be going to Utah if he received more NIL and not becuase he wants to be at Utah.
Ryder Lyons didn’t commit to BYU because he loves BYU. He committed to BYU because of $$$. Anyone who says he loves BYU and NIL had absolutely had nothing to do with it is full of s***! He was 100% USC, and Oregon was a close 2nd. BYU wasn’t even on the radar. All of a sudden, they become the leading candidate because of $$$.
Moa was predicted 100% Utah until $$$ entered the fray. Now the 100% prediction to Utah is a thing of the past! It should be a lesson to these so-called predictors/experts never put the carriage before the horse. His commitment dates keep changing whether its him, sports pundits, or who the hells knows. At this point, these kids ain’t worth the time and attention until they prove themselves.
I think we should focus on the kids already on the team and prove it on the field first! We have a lot of road to make up for our two sub par seasons and return to our Pac-12 championship years. Go UTES!

ParticipantMoney is here to stay. You’d only be cutting off your nose to spite your face.
I was asked years ago why I worked for X company. Being in a position as I was I answered truthfully, “you pay me”. I found it confusing that anyone would ever think I went to bed as a child or wake up today as a professional thinking about what I can do for X company’s share price. Nothing could matter less to me.
We can have a culture of commitment and camaraderie that can entice them to stay or en save us some money, but refusing to play the game at all is foolish.

ParticipantIn my own personal experience, I did not always take the best dollar option. But then I did not always take the best option overall. Still, the paycheck always figured in. So does location and people involved. As you get older you realize money is desired to buy some of the things you can skip ahead to get without paying for it. In the end, we have to be honest and recognize money is in everyone’s decision making process and not impose more on others than what we would do in their position.
