For those of you who are not here in SLC, the smoke blowing in from the fires farther west is brutal. I just went outside. Visibility is poor, eyes burning, and it smells like I’m sitting next to the campfire with the smoke blowing straight at me.
We relocated from CA to UT last november. We can’t escape the smoke, although this isn’t as bad as the camp fire last year. It would be nice to have a fire free summer again.
The models on how the smoke travels was pretty interesting. I don’t ever remember it being this bad in 38 years of Utah living.
I drove up to Washington in a single day for a job interview about four years back. Pretty much from Boise to Portland couldnt see more than 500 feet in any direction.
I have lived in Utah since 1961. I have never seen anything like this.
Because we didn’t used to get these frequent mega fires on the west coast.
This morning a fire started at the mouth of Parleys. I think that produced most of the strong campfire smell, and the worst if the smoke today.
That’s my neighborhood. That fire was late yesterday afternoon and only a couple acres and extinguished quickly.
Huh ok, I got bad info.
I experienced it in the Bay Area the past couple years. It’s no fun.
They even showed SLC skies on the local news here in the Great Plains. Used it to lead into how some of that smoke could be arriving here on Sunday. We’ve already had some smoke the last few days, but the trajectory was more from Canada.
I have Covid.
Yes, pretty rough symptoms.
Yes, I was vaccinated.
And this smoke is making my lungs hurt even worse.
I may head to the hospital even if my oxygen is ok.
I’m having a hard time breathing.
S**t man, hope you’re OK. My friend has Covid right now but where we live, we don’t have a lot of smoke. Get well.
