Some folks on Twitter not happy about Utah’s ranking without a top 25 win

      Looking at a couple of computer rankings like Massey, Sagarin, and SP+, Utah’s strength of schedule is middle of the pack compared with the rest of top ten. 

      Utah doesn’t have a signature win, but overall their SOS is within reason and certainly better than even teams ranked above them. Utah has just played a bunch of teams hovering around .500. No Arkansas or Rutgers in conference play. 

      This is what make college footbal interesting, but also annoying. Quality losses, quality wins. What other sport is ever talked about in those terms?

        Ditto.  I watch college football all day long on Saturday, but have to wait until the following Tuesday to find out who the best teams really are (according to the “experts”).  It feels strangely like figure skating, where winners and champions are decided by a panel of judges–and not necessarily on the field.

       Yet on cougarboard, some lying zoob is claiming that all his Ute fan friends are complaining that we’re not CFP ranked 3rd or 4th.

      There is no lie that they won’t tell.  Even the ones that can’t come anywhere NEAR plausibility.

        BYU is a better team than Utah because they have 2 top 25 wins and Utah only has one???  Their smack is so weak now.  Once you’ve been scoreboarded 9 years in a row it will get that way.  Comedy Central has nothing on cougar board.

      One important factor that shouldn’t be overlooked: The chair of the CFB playoff committee is none other than Oregon AD Rob Mullens. Gotta think he’s going to bat for the PAC12 because of the possibility that Oregon wins the CCG. He will want them back in the playoffs.

      That will benefit Utah when Utah “upsets” Oregon in the CCG.
