It didn’t appear to come off on its own. Hopefully there was a reason he took it off and he wasn’t just being a poor sport.
He should have come in the series before as a show of mercy. Hence the bush league toss and onside kick gaffe.
Are we sure he was being a poor sport and not just letting Lisk get into the game?
Or maybe he wanted Lisk to have a chance to take the snap.
Drew Lisk got to play two snaps of CFB in a bowl game. That is outstanding to do that for him.
Lisk is a walk-on who likely won’t make the team next year. Troy Williams gave him a big gift in the last game of both of their careers.
A little Rudy action there. Drew Lisk is loved by all who know him. Great kid, team guy…has a spot here as long as he wants it. That said, Coach Taylor has asked if he wants him to make some calls on his behalf. He had some lower level offers out of high school but decided to walk on here, he can spin it and is smart as hell. Drew will make his own decision on whether he wants to stay on or go play somewhere else.
You don’t get rid of a guy like that. Outstanding representative of Utah football and Troy showed incredible leadership in making that happen. Proud to be a Ute!
If that is true Troy is one of the best
🐐
I noticed him bend down and take his shoe off right as the play ended. I was curious as to what was going on. If it’s true that he wanted to give Lisk the snaps, that’s awesome.
Shoutout to my guy Drewski! 💯✊🏾@drewlisker https://t.co/D7kto8uJia

From Troy Williams! Taking his shoe off was a “shoutout” to Drew Lisk

And the reply from DLisk!
That’s just awesome! Great sportsmanship and class from a team captain. He’ll forever be a great Utah Man in my mind. Thank you Troy!
Glad the team captain recognized him.
Sounds like he did have a reason then. Good to hear.
Tom Hacket thinks it is Troy “refusing to be emerrassed.” Tweet:
With about a minute and a half left, Troy Williams decided to take his own shoe off. This is clearly Troy refusing to be embarrassed. Hahahhha! pic.twitter.com/ZTtYeylxp7

Why has Tom Hackett gone all Gunther now? The good cop/bad cop radio clown act works much better when at least one of them sees the positive.
