Sataoa Laumea announced today that he will be signing with Utah. He was expected to go to UCLA until his official visit to Utah recently. Expected to sign today:
247 has him as a 4 star/high 3 star depending on whether you look at composite or not:
Had offers from 26 schools including USC, UCLA, Cal, Az St, Nebraska, Oregon etc. Very good commit for us.
Signed.
Must be a great get because Pace hasn’t poo poo’d it yet 🙂
Hey, it’s what Utah does… 3 star Ploy linemen is the sweet spot.
TBF, Talavau and Laumea are right on the 4* border and had offers to big time programs. We have some talent in this class, especially with the missionary returns that are back for next year.
I get it, yes, Utah get’s solid borderline *4 linemen quite often. I have no issue with the solid Poly players.
It’s playmakers on both sides of the ball Utah needs to target
???
Utah absolutely reloaded on both O line and D line. Plus we added a couple of outstanding Safeties, a very solid LB, and a couple of excellent WRs (with more to come). Also picked up an outstanding RB.
He wanted Utah to oversign and dump kids.
Saban-style.
In reality what pace doesn’t want to admit is that Utah out recruited this borderline four star kid from those other programs. In his mind he just thinks they(bigger name schools) really didn’t want him.
Forgive him for he does not know football…
Games are won in the trenches. A stellar o-line makes playmakers look better than they really are. A stellar d-line makes opposing playmakers look worse than they really are.
I’d rather get highly rated linemen and average skill position players than the other way around.
I realize that the two are not mutually exclusive. In a perfect world we’d get stellar prospects at every position. But until we’re regarded like Alabama or Ohio state, I like how we approach recruiting.
Great get for the Utes!
