If we can pull off a win at ASU, it’ll really boost our confidence for the TCU and UH games, which are much more winnable. Then, having TSPP at home is a big plus. If we’re still one loss, we’d be in a great spot and highly motivated for the final 3-game stretch.
But.. if we lose this week, the B12 championship will be practically out of reach. This could fade the excitement, and I’m not sure how that would affect the team (and fan) morale. We might still end up with a 9-3 or 8-4 type record, but we will fall well short of the preseason goals.
Thoughts? How do you view the importance of the ASU game?

It can’t make it, but it could definitely break it.

This game is a breaking point in the year. The team hasn’t looked as good as they were supposed to be and it just feels like a loss would suck out all momentum towards anything special happening this year. A win can help right the ship and get some positive momentum heading into what I agree as two very winnable games. So yes this game is huge in my opinion. Every game is big but good teams tend to respond in a big way after a loss, I guess we will see the character of this squad on Friday

I’m looking at this game as this year’s version of the game versus Oregon. If you’ll remember, Utah went into that game fresh off the victory versus USC, nationally ranked and fully hyped, but got dismantled at RES and finished the season on a 3-4 streak.

I just have this fear that opposing defenses have seen enough of Isaac to know what works against him and that, at the same time, the Utah defense isn’t as stalwart as we thought at the start of the season. I mean, Tech’s defense last Saturday made Fifita look pretty ordinary and we saw what he did to us.

We’ll see what happens. If the coaching staff can’t introduce any new wrinkles to keep opponents guessing then the rest of the season might be problematic.

If two conferences losses is considered a deal breaker for CCG, then every game is now make or break. All winning this week does is put the same emphasis on next week’s game. Starting next week, it becomes rinse and repeat until the season ends or the math works for a 3 loss team to get into the CCG.

Beating BYU would make it. Losing to ASU would break it. I guess we’ll find out if the team can respond to a bad loss at home.

Breaking point. Issac has shown he is capable of winning a game like this. ASU is fine. Not great. Better than last year. Yes. But not special. If we can contain there running back we should be fine.
After that TCU at home I like our chances then Houston then BYE.

The last 4 games are brutal.
