Seriously?
Yes, he raises valid points in this article. I’ll give him that. He’s a jerk, he’s a BYU homer, he’s a douchenozzle… but yes, this piece is, frankly, spot on.
But seriously… WTF? A-Rod? Is Monson so hated that he couldn’t get any existing coaches to give him anything usable?
Monson fancies himself a Gene Wolfe, but in reality writes like a Stephanie Meyer. Gah, that article was incoherent.
I hate Monson. His writing sucks. But there wasn’t anything wrong with that article other than the rambling.
Fortunately I’ll never know. I don’t read Monson. I’ve listened to him a couple times and that’s even worse. It sounds like he’s baked on weed with a mouth full of Tootsie Rolls. Not to mention almost everything he spews is nonsense.
No, he’s spot on. I was just complaining about how hard to read that thing was.
I don’t see a problem with it. If anything, A-Rod might be the most likely source to give the real scoop on why the team has struggled in November as he no longer has to toe the line.
A-Rod wasn’t critical of the program, he even referred to Utah as “we” a few times which I thought was interesting.
He is such a hack. Why would he use A-Rod as a source? Douche bag!
Because no one else of any importance will talk to Monson?
It’s no surprise to any of us that the team has faded in November. I’d like to think (aka hope) that the new offense will help with the late season fatigue. It may just be my perception of the game, but the constant grind-it-out-run-first-run-most offense seems to tire out the offense more than say a pass first traditional PAC-12 offense. A nice balance, which I hope to see, may help keep energy up in November.
We’re deeper than we have been, so next man up! That and I think having 3 our of 4 November games at home will help too.
I think part of the other problem is later in the season our predictability on offense has become a disadvantage.
You’re 100% correct! I didn’t play football but by the end of the season even I could predict what the offense was going to do before the ball was snapped.
So you spend all this energy criticizing Monson, despite the fact what he wrote was true. The Utes blow in November and we need to figure it out. Heaven forbid a writer point out something negative about the team.
I think people were acknowledging that Monson was indeed correct about the November slide, and that does deserve criticism, but that he is still a douche canoo anyway?
Just because he’s one of the biggest douches in history doesn’t mean he’s not capable of being right.
Being right isn’t everything. Ask BYU fans.
I was pointing out a few things:
1. He’s a douchenozzle
2. He can’t get a good source on the Ute squad, because of #1 above
3. I suspect the reason he was able to get A-Rod quotes was because he was down in Provo giving handjobs, and A-Rod happened to be there as a hanger-on, so Monson gave him one too
4. Did I mention he’s a douchenozzle?
5. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut in the forest once in a while. It is possible that Monson is right, and I acknowledged that in my original post.
6. He’s still a hack. And a douchenozzle. And someone in a prominent position with a local media outlet that writes pieces for a content-starved Utah fan population – a population that may be tiring of having to plug their collective noses while reading his drizzle.
