Goodness, DEI is often simply virtue signaling, to actively promote it with departments, statements, policies has nothing to do with actual desired results. Consider the recent news coming from the Veterans Administration related to problems in their DEI department. Sadly aggressive voices promoting DEI may actually be making things worse not better. I for one feel the organic culture that is still developing is much better than mandated and often one sided divisive approaches.

Next, I think Utah offers a very much toned down and easy culture related to this issue. These concerns are not the same everywhere and Utah enjoys a situation that is quite favorable. Also, I could be pollyanna in my understanding but I don’t think this concern is high on everyone’s list, rather high on some.

Last, as for Florida, one could get the wrong impression attending a FB game at UF but Florida is an amazing place. I love the small towns and the people. I once thought California was paradise but Florida has completely taken the best costal vibe from them. The keys are unreal.

Goodness, Whitt wants to completely encourage the next 3 or 4 QBs behind Rising. There is zero benefit and a mountain of problems is Whitt was to give you a report this early in the competition for QB2. His focus is getting as many as 3 QBs ready to go next fall and the carrot is the QB2 position. I expect in the next portal window he will look for the best available QB that can exceed his pick for QB3. It is a fan question but you would learn more being around a middle school or high school football team if you want to learn about team dynamics.

I wish Rollie stayed, he has a better drive to the rim game and he can play with Smith in a 2 PG system. Keba will likely not ever be a starter but is an awesome bench option. Lovering does not have high minutes in him even if we tried to give him high minutes. Erickson will be better next year. All these guys, much like Smith, should realize it will take 1/2 a year to learn a new system and jell, something I don’t think is for the best in your last year or for best progress. Coach seems to be good for a good new face every year, he needs it to replace Branden. I guess we will soon get the answer to the Exacte mistery. Now that NIL levels the playing field with the Y we need to recruit again Chandler coming off his mission. I expect Wahlin to improve. I am guessing coach is depending on the portal more than HS for changes over the summer.

Sadly, 80% of the NIT teams are pissed they did not make the NCAA tournament. Oddly, I watched college basketball for decades before the NCAA tournament surpassed the NIT and picked first. Maybe the only single significant accomplishment by the NCAA was eclipsing the NIT. Fun fact, when Utah won the national championship in 1944, they went to the NIT tournament and lost. Then the NCAA tournament asked them to fill in for a team that had some kind of tragedy. Utah went on to win the NCAA tournament (which obviously was not enough). However, in those years the two champs played a game after the two tournaments and the Utes beat the Jonnies to take it all. And no, I did not watch the game…

Not sure. I had a friend that owned a station on the side and he always laughed at that thought that is repeated a lot. However, event concessions have a very high profit margin but comes in after TV and ticket sales, I think.

Exactly. Coaches have their job to do. Players have their job to do. Fans have support to do. When any of the three wait for the others, progress is slow at best. A wise man once said things happen for only one of two reasons: chance or you make it happen. As fans, if you have spending money you can help the administration and influence coaching. Otherwise the only other job is support. There was/is a sign in the football building: ‘Just do your job. in the interest of full disclosure, I was not there last night…

Best case, Rising is healthy and misses little if any game time, Rose and Wilson both have a healthy attitude about growing as a QB, and the portal provides a serviceable backup that finishes several games letting Rising chill. Rose and Wilson have no reason to panic about a spring depth chart.

Remind me, did Utah get a QB coach? Has there been a spring media guide or depth chart from the team?
