The rules state that:
1) lead with the crown of the helmet, or
2) forcible contact to the head/neck areaSo by #1, you are correct. But #2 is what leaves room for interpretation. And since the Pac-12 refs call anything close.,, I’ve said elsewhere that I don’t believe Bishop would have ever gotten flagged, let alone confirmed in any other…[Read more]

The bigger question is how much was the ability of Utah’s offense and how much was looking good because of Cal’s D. CAL came into the game giving up 431 yards per game and 31 points.
The good news is that Oregon is the only team left on the schedule with a decent defense, even if they were only tested today for the first time in 2023. The bad…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Bishop in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
the explanation is Pac-12 Refs. I’ve watched enough games in other conferences to know that play doesn’t get flagged, even if it was technically the right call. Watch an SEC game and if the players doesn’t get carted off, it’s a no-call because they look at intent.
Bishop absolutely hit a defenseless player in the head/neck area. Bishop also…[Read more]

True. But with Barnes going to the hospital, I really didn’t think he would be available today either. If I had to be honest, pre-game I was expecting Jackson to run wildcat all game. Seeing a semi-healthy QB at this point in this season was a confidence boost

That’s a bit harsh. I wasn’t on the bandwagon based on what he did last year but I’m also not sure that we have seen what Johnson is truly capable of. I see less talented QB’s every week put up huge numbers so why can’t he?
I think many are not willing to accept how much the Whitt/Lud offense inhibits QB play. If you tell a kid every day to…[Read more]

15-21-128 doesn’t inspire you? That’s over 6 yards per pass! 🙂 And if you subtract Munir’s catch, it’s 20 passes for 87 yards. How could a receiver recruit not want to play for an offense that averages 4 yards per throw?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Stanford’s WR Ayonamanor in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
they both were. And Hunter didn’t play him the whole second half. Hunter only matched up once it got to a one score game.
There was one play where both drunk-stumbled back to the huddles. Neither team left anything on the field and Ayonamor got the best of Colorado, no matter who was covering him.

some don’t. it seems that those who still live in Utah can’t get past the parochial school though.
Utah hasn’t been in a conference with the parochial school for over a decade but I guarantee that if I go to an article at DN for either team, the same people will be having the same comment fight they were in the 90’s

Thanks. I fully expected that if he was healthy, he would get a drive or at least come in for a couple of RPO’s. Maybe Vaki was so effective they didn’t need it?
I’ll admit I’m grasping at straws trying to figure out what the offensive plan is from week to week

Doesn’t help Utah in conference but I’m hoping Scalley watches this game. He has a good plan to beat Williams but this game will just reinforce

most players, no matter what the level put up 13 catches for 294.
The point is, if you don’t give someone the chance to do that, they never will. Prior to today’s game, the Utah offense has been so risk averse that 90% of those throws would have never have happened. Yes, the quality of Colorado’s D leaves something to be desired, but you have…[Read more]

How did Oregon lose that game? Had the lead, had the ball.,, then went for it on 4th down in their own end.
If Utah doesn’t get to the CCG, I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch of that game

Barnes didn’t anything special today but having him in the game doesn’t allow the defense to stack the box. Johnson may end being a better QB when all is said and done but right now, the defense doesn’t respect his pass game. There are more than happy to bring numbers and force him to beat them.
However, that 50/50 ball Barnes was willing to…[Read more]

And Utah still has to play both of these offenses. The good thing is that Utah still controls it’s own destiny. Win and you are in

Thanks, it was supposed to be humor after the last few weeks.
Tony: I’ll throw another hunnert in the donation pot if you give us a sarcasm button. I’m not sure how that could have been anything but a joke but the nerves have been strained the last few weeks
