2008 National Champ replied to the topic 100% coaching in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
one of the biggest parts of in-game coaching is making sure you have the right personnel to do what you are asking of them. That includes the QB. No one is faulting Rising’s desire to be in the game. It is up to the staff to recognize whether he gives the team the best chance to win.
So the real question becomes “was Rising the best option?”…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Kind of a weird topic to bring up right now but… in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
Pepa actually came into the program around 370 and is just naturally a big boy. The staff cut his bad weight but there’s only so low that you can go. And once you put back on good weight through diet and conditioning, you end up where he is now.
If you remember a couple of years ago, he could only manage about one play before needing to come…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Did fans and the media factor into their decision to go w/ Cam? in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
Not to mention that there are close to 130 distinct personalities in that locker room that all believe they are the best option for the team. When one player is given all the accolades and makes the most money.,, that is only sustainable when he’s winning games. Once that facade is proven false you get 10, 15, 20 different cliques who all…[Read more]

to be fair, you could have probably thrown the ball better than Rising did tonight. I’m pretty sure I could have and the last time I played QB was when I kept clanging the ball off the back of my linemen’s helmets in 7th grade.

I think the whole fanbase would have celebrated the decision, if made, to pull Rising after the 2nd drive when it was obvious that he was not capable of performing at the level required. The best interests of the team and the player were no longer served by leaving him out there. And quite frankly, the O Line deserves one hell of an atta-boy…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Scally's last second play calls in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
I’m not putting that loss on Scalley. Sure, things could have gone better for the D but with a competent offense, giving up 26 points shouldn’t have been a deal breaker. I think it was 7 times inside the ASU 30 and got 19 points out of it.
That being said, whenever I see 9 Utah defenders on the LOS late in a tight game I hide my head under a…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Our over pursuing Lander Backers have held Skattebo to 7.4 YPC. in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
If I remember correctly, Tupai got so discouraged that it became a psychological issue and he had to retire. Major college football isn’t for everyone so I’m not blaming the staff but there comes a point where you can’t treat 120+ players the same and get the best results out of each. There just isn’t enough time available in 20 hour weeks to…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Do we have a head coach problem? in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
I think the phrase is “what should be done eventually must be done immediately” but the why do you want to Fire Whitt crowd won’t agree

Seriously, that SC linebacker owes Utah some royalty money.
Troy Williams also gifted him with a pick in the 2017 game. The SC fans around me laughed when I said out loud that Utah should just put him on scholarship since he was their best receiver.

Whitt also went all in on him and he’s the one who’s getting paid millions to know better

I root for the name on the front of the jersey. I don’t give a rat’s ass who gets the job done as long as it gets done.
The idolatry of individual players is the problem. Would 2021 vintage Cam Rising have won tonight’s game? Very likely. But if you expected that to come to fruition, then you were allowing your want to override objective…[Read more]

it’s the Covid effect:
Hey, I’m not sure these mask rules will help- Shut up, you’re trying to kill me!
Hey, has this vaccine best tested? – Shut up and quit trying to kill me with your unvaccinated ass!
Hey, all these studies show that what we did didn’t really help – Why can’t you just move on already -
2008 National Champ replied to the topic 100% coaching in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
should have never come back in 2019.
I realize that what we are seeing is exactly what Whitt wanted and was the inevitable conclusion of his 12 years of revolving OC’s. But it’s also the only possible conclusion of his limited rolodex and unwillingness to go outside his own comfort level.
Saban was considered as having reached his plateau as a…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Turn the play calling duties over to Mike Bajakian in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
I edited above but thanks for the info. Kinda feels like grasping at straws to replace an existing coach with this guy though since you can only have 10. Someone would have to get fired for him to call plays

sorry but who the eff is Mike Bajakian? Graduate Assistant? He’s not one of the 10 listed coaches

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Fire Kyle Whittingham in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
I’ve been saying for years that Whitt has earned the right to go 8-4/9-3 until he decides to hang it up. He should never be unceremoniously shown the door because that level of performance is no longer acceptable to the Utah fanbase.
At the same time, I worry that his stature with the school has reached Paterno levels (Sandusky scandal…[Read more]

If you couldn’t see that tonight’s game was a distinct possibility based on what had happened since Rising played coy with the “will I, won’t I go pro” before the Penn State game and his subsequent injury.,, sure blame us I told you so fans. You’ll feel better but it won’t change the reality

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Injuries = frustration in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
Another case of Whitt trying to win the last game instead of the next one. Let me know if this sounds familiar:
2022 against Florida Anthony Richardson kept breaking containment. 2023 Whitt puts the team through an extra physical camp and beats Florida but spends the rest of the year with half his roster.
2024 Fall camp Whitt decides he’s…[Read more]

Some of us have been essentially saying this since January of 2023 Rising has this team by the throat and is killing it and been told we are not true fans and need to shut the fuck up. But I’m sure that now it is obvious to everyone we’ll just be told to let it go because no one is allowed to admit that they might be wrong about something to…[Read more]
