He’s got nothing. Can’t push off the back leg and still can’t throw. Get him out of there

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Utah at ASU – By the rankings in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
another is that Utah is really freaking bad at converting 3rd downs (33%) which is why there’s been so many 4th down attempts this year. get that number up into the 40’s and the offense will look a lot better, even though the playcalling won’t have changed noticeably.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic How’re you feeling about our chances tomorrow (Cam or not)? in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
I’m not trying to get you to 6-6 but after losing to the parochial school, Colorado and then Iowa State you think they’ll go across the country on a short holiday week and beat UCF? I suppose getting bowl eligible would be something to play for but you’d think the team would have packed it in at point

seems like only games played in Tempe, on a Friday night, in October, with the temps above 85 degrees at kickoff, when Utah is coming off a loss and a bye while ASU is coming off a home win would be relevant for the data set in question 🙂

Interesting. I’ve always thought of Whitt’s best defenses more like monster trucks that just slowly stomp the life out of the other teams while smashing every available surface beyond repair.
But it is definitely a thing of beauty when the D is flipping the field and scoring points on their own so I’ll cosign on Ferrari defense.

He came back because it was his best chance to get to the NFL. Playing at less than 100% doesn’t put anything better on tape than what he had shown pre-Penn State.
None of us knows how healthy Rising is. At the same time, let’s not pretend that his only motivation is to get Utah a championship or that he only plays because of his love for his…[Read more]

It just feels, and felt at the time, so incredibly shortsighted. You’ve got a 7th year senior and an incoming freshman with the only thing in-between being a 3rd year player that the head coach told reporters multiple times the previous season had not learned the playbook.
And this coming off a 4 year gap where you got 2 starts out of the 5 HS…[Read more]

kinda feels like when someone starts the sentence “with all due respect” because they think that allows them to say disrespectful things.

The QB is also someone Utah offered out of the portal last offseason. One has to wonder how much the decision to name Rising the starter no matter what played into him choosing ASU, or any of the other QB’s Utah might have wanted?
If you look at it from outside Utah fandom, 2024 Utah should have been an attractive landing spot for a RS…[Read more]

and Skattebo has another 200 yards receiving while Bernard has.,, 6. 30 more carries, 14 more receptions. 824 total yards v Bernard’s 553. Average only matters if touches are roughly equivalent.

The same schools that set up the NCAA and allowed it to become the disgrace it is will be in charge of setting up whatever new entity is dreamed up. I daresay that will be more of the same

every coach wants to convince their team that they are being overlooked. even Saban would do it.
But you shouldn’t need a loss to get your team to believe in your message. And at this point in his career, Whitt should have a plan for every situation because he’s experienced them all.

it would be nice if after 20 years of being the head coach, he didn’t need to get into this position to thrive though.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic OnlyU in the forum Football 9 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m willing to bust on OnlyU when he’s wrong but you also have to look at the source and realize that he’s evaluating things from inside the silo. So it’s natural that when he errs, it’s on the positive side. The team always looks good when they are practicing against themselves. It isn’t until they actually get to try things out against an…[Read more]

Jeanty goes around 215 and Jordan was in the 210 range so they weren’t really small backs, just on the shorter side.
To your point though, one of the toughest backs to bring down while Utah was in the PAC was Miles Gaskin. Played at 5’9 and around 195. Averaged 1300 yards a year and never needed to be taken out for a short yardage back. The…[Read more]

There is that component also but I was just referring to the utility in going for it on fourth down.
Ludwig has been an OC for over 20 years and his patterns are very well established. The other team still has to be able to stop his offense and having a good idea of what he is going to call in any situation is only half the battle. Penn State,…[Read more]
