Invented the horse-drawn seed drill, and also wailed on the lute; what a guy!

You mean Jethro Tull the band, fronted by Ian Anderson? I was a big fan of them back in the day, but haven’t listened to them much in the last few years. Perhaps I should revisit them.

He also went by Jeremiah Jordan. He was a JC transfer, DE. Came in with some hype last year but was injured and never saw the field.

Harding fits all three of those. I know Harding was co-OC before, but that “co” is a pretty big caveat. I think Roderick had more of the reigns in play calling at the time. I think a good scenario would be Harding to OC with final say, and bring in a QB coach who can add input to the passing game. Call him a passing game coordinator if it makes sense to do so, i.e. he’s a bigger name and needs a better title than just a position coach, but I don’t like the “co” aspect where we’re never sure where the buck stops.
Bringing in someone new entirely could be great too, depending on who’s possible, but I wouldn’t be disappointed with Harding, so long as we get a good QB coach.

Bama oversigns and forces unproductive upperclassmen out of the program to make room for more recruits. Following is my post from a previous thread. Follow the links and have a look for yourself.

““15.5.6.1 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of initial
counters (per Bylaw 15.02.3.1) and an annual limit of 85 on the total number of counters (including initial
counters) in football at each institution. (Revised: 1/10/91 effective 8/1/92, 12/15/06)”

An NCAA division 1 FBS program can have up to 85 scholarship players on their roster at any time. That is a hard limit. The 25 “initial counters” limit is a little more flexible. You can “push forward” a guy to count against the following year, and play the games I pointed out in the posts above. There is also the practice of “oversigning” some programs use. This wikipedia article explains it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oversigning Also points out what a sleaze Nick Saban is.

I fully admit that I’m not an expert on the subject, and there are plenty of things I don’t understand about recruiting, but saying that if we can get commitments from as many talented players as we can we’ll find room for all of them is clearly false.”

It sounds like three RMs for sure, Johnny Maea, Semisi Lauaki, and Keaton Bills, with a possible fourth, but it’s uncertain.
Another thing coaches can do to dance around scholarship limitations is to ask a guy to greyshirt, or to give a guy preferred walkon status with the promise that they’ll get a scholarship as soon as one becomes available, which one usually does at some point in their first season. It seems like if coaches get a very talented late addition they don’t have room for they’ll ask one of the less talented recruits to greyshirt. I think that’s what happened to Jake Grant in the 2015 class. Understandable if that angers a kid, but he stuck with the Utes, greyshirted a year and is still on the team; hopefully he’ll be a contributor next season.

Wife felt it inside our house in Sugarhouse, but I was outside in the yard and didn’t feel anything.

You keep stating that the rest of us don’t understand recruiting, but offer no facts to back up your statement. The fact is that DI programs can sign MAXIMUM of 25 “initials” a year, but can only carry 85 scholarship players at a time. So if a program has 75 players still on Scholarship after a season, they can only bring in 10 more. There is wiggle room with the initials as one can push forward initials to the following year, have a kid grey shirt, etc., but that 85 is a hard limit.

Well then, why don’t you educate us with some facts. Like these: “15.5.6.1 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of initial
counters (per Bylaw 15.02.3.1) and an annual limit of 85 on the total number of counters (including initial
