The PAC 12 was grossly mismanaged by the Presidents of the member institutions for years. They are the ones who enabled Larry Scott to lead the conference over the cliff to its death fall. Lots of blame to go around but it all has to start at the top with the Presidents who Larry Scott reported to.

You’re right Backer…I thought I’d be moving forward by now but I’m still feeling depressed about this new conference. The release of the schedule the other day was just another reminder of the major step backwards Utah has taken by being forced to join this conference.

I think undefeated is entirely possible this year with the way the schedule lines up. But it’s really tough for any team in any power league to go undefeated. IMO, I would expect us to slip up in 1 or maybe 2 games.

That said, I would say the floor for this year is 10-2, the expectation is 11-1, and obviously the ceiling is 12-0.

I like that Utah has finally followed the SEC by scheduling an FCS opponent in November on 11/9!

I know Whitt has had a long-standing great relationship with Kevin Plank (founder of UA) and so I realize Utah will remain an UA school as long as Whitt is there. I realize things didn’t workout for JJ at QB ultimately. But I’m a little surprised we haven’t seen any RPO plays where JJ turns into a passer.

It seems like UA quality went down when they got into financial trouble a couple of years ago. UA was on run for many years of double digit growth and this also led to the huge signings of UCLA & Cal that ended up putting UA in over their heads. Yes, the minor surgery he had was just to clean up his knee so he could play out his senior season. But I heard over on 247 that Wilson is going to need meniscus surgery on his knee after his senior year is done. I love the idea of Cam starting his coaching career at Utah. He’d be so great as a young QBs Coach being able to relate to the players and help develop them in Ludwig’s system.

I’m of the opinion that there’s no reason to bring Cam back this season. We keep doing what we’re doing and likely get to 8 wins, maybe 9 (which would be amazing, all things considered). Good point, I’ve never gotten the impression that Ludwig is much of a recruiter. And to be fair, it’s never really been Whitt’s forte either. Maybe it’s because they both come from that same generation of coaches going way back to their days together at Idaho St. But the top recruiting coaches for Utah are clearly: Scalley, Harding, Shah, and Swan.

I believe Bentley just came back from injury and was available for the Cal game. If I’m wrong on that please someone correct me.

I, for one, think Ludwig’s a genius. How quick we all forget the 10 year revolving door of OCs. A number of those OCs have had success elsewhere but not one of them could work with and complement Whitt’s style and identity.
