  • I do agree that not having a Cam Rising distraction will be a big plus in 2025.

  • I agree that Barton did not have a good season. I talked to his family just last week. He had never recovered from his 2023 injury and was a step slow. I hope to see the Barton from the 2023 again in 2025.

As far as the D-line is concerned – we do have Fano back and he is a stud IMO. But, we seem to lack experience in the middle. That’s…[Read more]

  • Tony, I get what you are saying. BUT, other teams lose QBs and the offense still performs. In 2023 when we lost Rising, Arizona lost Ward. They went to their backup and ended up 10-2. Preparing a backup QB is the coach’s responsibility. We have not had a good backup QB in years.

Also, we had a lot more problems than just QB in 2024 IMO.…[Read more]

  • Our football and basketball programs are not good. This has been the case in basketball for many years and now football is headed in the wrong direction. I know that I/we need to be careful about judging the football program based on the last two seasons. However, last season was a total debacle. Yes, we had injuries, and everybody else did…[Read more]

  • KSL article on NIL

I don’t know if this is in Utah’s best interest or not. I do not like that BYU doesn’t have to disclose anything, making it possible for them to spend millions with no accountability.

I have some strong opinions about what is going on in Washington. However, I do not want this board to become like UteFans. I will go somewhere else to share my political views.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Rising not on 2025 Roster in the forum Football 6 months ago

Technically Whitt said, “He’s not on the current roster.” That would leave the door open. I am not suggesting or hoping that Cam stays. I’m just saying that Whitt’s words were carefully parsed, leaving the door open.

BUT – I do not think Cam is staying. Personally, I think we need to move on. I love CR, but we need to move on to the next…[Read more]

  • It was announced today that we are done recruiting the portal. There are a couple of guys who have offers that may still join the team in the coming days. But, for all intents and purposes – our Spring roster is set. So, what is the status of our team?

I think anything that is said today, is subjective at best. We have lost some key players…[Read more]

  • That would be great news!!!

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Rose in the forum Football 6 months, 2 weeks ago

I like Rose and appreciate that he stayed after last season. However, with everyone we have in the QB room now, and Johnson as an emergency QB – I would not waste a roster spot on Rose. He is not good enough for that now that we have rebuilt to QB room.

His injury will not allow him to play in spring ball, so that works against him right now.…[Read more]

The 4 top seeds all lost.

  • I am pleased Johnson decided to return to Utah. As for me, I hope he is not going to play QB. If he is an emergency QB – great.

I would be fine with him running some wildcat on occasion. However, I hope he is willing to play WR. He has NO future in the NFL as a QB, but if he develops some WR skills, he could possibly play on Sundays.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Happy New Year! in the forum Misc 6 months, 2 weeks ago

I hope 2025 is good year for Utah football. I do not expect a place in the CFP or a conference championship. But, I hope for a team that is much improved, plays hard, performs well, and wins at least 7 or 8 games.

    Gi Utes!!!

  • Some teams have lost 20+ players to the portal. Most good teams have players not playing because of the NFL draft. And some teams no longer have their coach and/or assistants

I thought Bowl games were fun back in the day. But, now they are a waste of time. The only meaningful games are the CFP games.

  • That’s tough. I must admit that Utah sports has been the biggest rif in my nearly 50 years of marriage. But, it did not come to divorce.

Best wishes as you start over!

  • My dad has been gone for over 40 years. I still think about him often and am grateful for the years we had together. He was a great man in so many ways.

  • Yes, life is full of ups and downs. We all face challenges. I just hope to find the strength to handle mine.

Best wishes to you and your parent.

  • It has been a tough last 4 months for me, and I assume many of you feel the same. But, it’s just football. I have placed way too much of my happiness in how Utah football goes. I drank the kool-aid. (My mistake. I know better.)

Overall, my life is great, and I will spend the holiday with all but two of my wonderful grandchildren. It doesn’t…[Read more]

  • I think the potential is there. Now, he needs to work like his older brother did to become the player he can be. I would like him to get the surgery he needs, learn to be a good teammate, work with Beck’s brother in the offseason and become a stud QB.

  • I do not think any of the four first-round games are gimmes. I think the best chance of an upset is Indiana over Notre Dame. I find the SMU/Penn St. game to be intriguing, but I think Penn State wins. The Ohio State/Tennessee game is a tossup IMO. I think Texas will beat Clemson by about 10 points.

What game has the greatest chance to be an upset?
