  • I can’t remember the game/team, but several years ago, Utah was on the other end of this – constantly running low on the play clock and risking delay of game penalties because the other team would sub a big D line player after Utah made a sub.

Nice to see that we have learned to use the rule in our favor.

Probably – but that’s a huge gap to give a running QB like Williams and then Reid and Vaki just trip over each other and Broughton stumbles w/o much contact and waves his arms at Williams crossing the end zone. The more I look at it the more I think we baited him into running up the middle and then let him score.

It sure looked like Utah let Williams walk in to preserve the clock and have a chance. The TV guy seemed to think it was just a poor defensive formation with no one lined up in the center of the line, but when he went through the initial hole, the attempts to tackle him seemed half hearted at best.

If so, obviously it was the right call (I…[Read more]

I get the worry about the offense – Utah clearly needs to score more points to have any hope to repeat as conference champs.

For perspective, though, this season is one of only nine 4-0 starts for Utah in the last 50+ years, and only two others included a defeat of a ranked-at-the-time team (2015-ORE; 2010-PITT).

Final records for those 8…[Read more]

Feel awful for him – hopefully he’s on the road to full recovery.

Any know any more about the injury?

Was it an electric scooter you stand on or a motor scooter?

Was it a collision with another vehicle or a fluke accident or ?

I heard somewhere that he’s expected to recover fully but it will take time. Can anyone confirm? Wishing the best for him!

  • On the Pittman hit, the way the rule is written now it’s only targeting if it’s crown of the helmet OR a non-crown blow to head of a “defenseless” player. It definitely wasn’t crown of the helmet. He did seem pretty defenseless to me, but it’s a judgement call I guess.

I love that after SC db #7 shoved Money Parks after he was 2 steps in the endzone on the 3rd and 19 play, he ended up getting slobber knocked by by JJ, Yassmin, and Bernard on all three of their long TDs. He’s not gonna forget this game any time soon.

  • I can’t find a definitive answer and heard both at the game – anyone know the specific rule that addresses whether a non-fumbled ball touching the ground is a dead ball?
Whittingham seemed to be yelling at the refs after the Stanford QB righted himself by touching the ball to the ground, and I always thought that ended the play in football, but I…[Read more]

Any thoughts or info from people who have attended? Grandstand tix are $80-120 – worth it? The website says people can save free spots along the road from noon the previous day (which I am unwilling to do for any parade). I assume those spots fill up, but does anyone have first hand experience?
I’d also love any advice on parking. I booked a…[Read more]

  • Eleven Warriors (OSU message board)
Many think that OSU won’t be “up” for the game (and some stars may sit out) and worry that Utah’s smash-mouth style will be tough for their team (like Michigan was). Overall, more respect for Utah than I was expecting.
And several of them are hoping for Scalley as their next DC.
