  • Oh my god, not this again. Every year since they went independent, Utah fans make this type of prediction. And every year BYU outperforms the prediction. I’m not going to take the time to look it up but every year they have surpassed the “BYU will start 0-4” or “BYU is going to be lucky to win 6 games this year” predictions I see from Utah fans.…[Read more]

  • Two thoughts:

    1) I’m a little skeptical of the “CBs look better than last year” comment when he says “We’ve moved WRs to CB so they have a shot to play.”

If the CBs we have look better than last year, how in the world is a converted WR supposed to get playing time there?

    2) If we blow BYU out, I will be pushing you out of the way to dive into…[Read more]

  • One of their fans posted a rumor about several pending suspensions for their players, and not just for football but for multiple sports. I don’t think it lasted five minutes before the moderators deleted the message. Too funny.

I can buy most of that, though a lot of it sounds like hyperbole laden coach speak. How many times has Whit said something like “best QB situation in the country” or “deepest, most talented WR we’ve ever had” only to have those claims not be backed up once the season started. One claim I don’t buy is the RBs.

First of all, DHC has one career…[Read more]

  • The fact he may miss a couple of games isn’t something that is being sprung on the coaches at the last minute. Blair is going to be getting starter reps for the duration of fall camp and will be as prepared as possible to start if needed, rather than Chase taking most of the reps and then being ruled out the beginning of week 1.

  •  Anyone have any updates on him?
The late additions of Carrington and Nurse have me feeling a bit better about our WR group. Picking up a grad transfer CB like Johnson to bolster our inexperienced secondary would be huge.

  • Yeah, the Indiana safeties faced some pretty bad passing offenses. 11 of their 13 opponents ranked #66 or worse in passing yards per game last year.

    #122 Rutgers, #113 Wake Forest, #106 Maryland, #103 Wisconsin, #86 Nebraska, #85 Michigan, #81 Ohio State, #78 Utah, #74 Michigan State, #69 FIU, #66 Ball State

    For comparison, 8 of Utah’s 13…[Read more]

  • Here are the week “0” and week 1 games I’m looking forward to.
Week 0, August 26th – This isn’t the greatest slate of games, but there are still some interesting match-ups if for no other reason than they feature Ute opponents and/or conference rivals.Saturday, August 26thOregon State @ Colorado State Portland State @ BYU South Florida @ San Jose…[Read more]

Very well said. Oregon never gave him a second chance. He messed up at Oregon multiple times and was disciplined for those indiscretions. If he had been kicked off the team, or done something that normally results in someone being kicked off the team, and then Oregon let him come back or stay, then you could say he already had a second chance. But…[Read more]

  • A bleacher report top 10 that includes TROY at #7 and Georgia State and Appalachian State as honorable mentions? That’s what you’re going with?

    Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Did you even read their selection criteria? It’s simply number of returning starters and how they ranked nationally last year in 5 statistical categories. No weight given to…[Read more]

  • Different context. Rick said the receivers we have coming back were better in the last few games of last season than the guys we are losing were. The statistics in the last 5 games prove that isn’t really true.

ETA: The discussion of BYU players was regarding the claim that they had “zero talent” at RB which I was pointing out isn’t true. This is…[Read more]

  • We had 8 players drafted and a total of 15 players go to the NFL from last year’s team.

We’re replacing 4 of 5 starters on the OL. Replacing our leading rusher who carried the team. Replacing 2 of our top 3 WR, including our leading WR. On defense we are replacing both corners and a safety in the secondary, and our DL lost some of its best…[Read more]

  • This time it’s the Wuerffel Trophy awarded “to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.”

  • Keep in mind, they were backups so of course their stats aren’t going to be gaudy.

Canada rushed 9 times for 49 yards against Toledo(5.4 avg), 6 for 50 against Michigan State(8.3 avg), and 21 for 88 against Boise State(4.2 avg).

The bulk of Hall’s yards did come against SUU, UMass, and Utah State but those are the teams he got opportunities…[Read more]

  • This sounds great until you consider that Mangum was a RM freshman and Wilson was a 4 year starter playing his senior season. Surely Mangum will be better as a junior than he was as a freshman.

ETA: Here is a comparison of their freshman season stats vs P5 teams. I omitted Wilson’s USC stats because he was only used as a change up in that…[Read more]
