Ultimately after all the rumors I had heard about out of state offers he apparently “surprised everyone, including himself” and went to Utah State.

My hope at this point is that my family’s weird obsession with Bryson Barnes (centered around my wife’s vehement dislike for him) can come to a close. It’s been a journey.

I wish him well and am curious to see how it goes for him against Utah in September.

I think we saw this year what pretty good (great if healthy) running back room is like without an effective quarterback. We have quite a few effective running backs (Bernard returning especially helps). Couldn’t find a passable second string QB.

His family told a friend of mine that they would like him to go out of state… Clearly not reliable sources given the degrees of who told who, but it’s what I heard.

I do think that the only recourse anyone has if they felt like the selection committee missed something is to not watch the game. If networks are running the ship now then that’s the only metric they care about.

Any chance Bottari starts another year? It doesn’t look like he’s taken a red shirt but it could just be roster error.

Around the 3rd quarter I realized that I hadn’t seen him at all. I assume the flu given the circumstances but who knows.

In the end, all I really care about is that he’s not on the field for Utah next year.

This seems like the next iteration of NIL. Contracts saying you need to play this long, stay for this many years, or have metrics to receive the money… Enough exposure or duration to value the investment from the outside entity.

If I remember correctly, even before Lander got hurt Damuni saw the field a lot. He might not be a “starter” when we are in nickel defense, but he’s the 3rd in 4-3 and there are still plenty of reps to be had.

Also, NIL is a complicating factor. Maybe he’s going to get more via that than whatever he could do next year. It’s a weird time in college football.

All through rumor mill, but it sounds like Southern Utah was buzzing with Bryson Barnes rumors all year, but I heard his family wanted him to go to Washington (I chuckled) but that he was thinking BYU. This was right after he was benched and apparently had beef with Whitt, which has since been patched up.

It was all rumors through many iterations of the telephone game so nothing reliable.
