I’ve not had as big of a hang up on any one thing building this site as I have with the reply tree structure here. Until last night the replies have been “flat” and in some cases hard to tell who is replying to who. After working dozens of hours on this I finally bailed and hired a developer from India to work on it. The hired developer went silent. I stumped the dev from India LOL. During that time over this weekend I had some discussions with @Daedalus, who knows database queries. He gave me the inspiration to try one more time, so I put the 3 remaining brain cells I had left back to work.
I found a version of the home page which I had abandoned a week or two ago, but it was actually closer than I thought. After a whole day Sunday I finally got it. You should now notice that some replies are indented. Those indents indicate a reply to a reply in a thread. Sort of like this:

It’s much easier to grasp visually. You’ll get it easily as you read the home page. I have limited the “depth” of threads to FIVE levels. The reason being that the space for the reply content and possible reply forms to occupy gets smaller and smaller the more threads there are. A high depth and lots of replies would be very bad, especially on mobile. I may change it by a depth or two, or I may tweak the indent sizing, but this is pretty much the idea.
I hope this makes the discussions a little more easy and clear to ascertain who is responding to who.
UPDATE: I have found one bug, and it’s a bad one though. Somehow the edit post function is redirecting somewhere it shouldn’t, to some blog posts. I’ll work on that.
