I blame my emotional reactions to losses like this on my dad.  He was a great man and has been dead for almost 40 years now.  When I was a kid and his team lost, he lost it.  I didn’t understand it as a kid.  But, one thing he could do – is go our on a walk – gain some perspective and get over it.

Utah lost a football game.  It’s not a huge deal in the big scheme of things.  I heard a 10 year girl in Salt Lake was hit by a car and killed yesterday.  That is huge and very sad.  Right now, our friends in North and South Carolina have been washed from their homes.  Some have lost their homes, others have lost loved ones.  This is a huge deal.  We lost a football game and I let my emotions take over for a few hours.  Sometimes I attach my emotions way too much to a team.  It really make no sense, but I it seems to be in my DNA.

I have lowered my expectations for this team.  I will try to watch and enjoy.  I am glad we have a bye next week, so I can focus on the important things in life.

The thing is, I’ve seen this show before. This is a rerun. I’ve been watching this crap for decades. This year was supposed to be the year that we are finally a PAC12 team. Maybe next year.

You know what the nice thing is? Utah is a PAC 12 team regardless of what you may think or any other school thinks.

I don’t even know what you’re saying. Big deal. My whole “just happy to be here” response was retired a couple of years ago. If we’re not here to win the conference, then I’m wasting my time.

I agree, never settle, never accept less than your absolute best, don’t make excuses. Do whatever it takes to win.  That being said, it did seem to be the perfect storm.  When passes were on target they were dropped.  When receivers were open the pass was bad.  Drivers were ruined by either penalties or a bad call.  When we stopped their drives penalties kept them alive.  One thing is for sure you have to believe you can compete or you are done.  Shake it off and move on.  Practice hard this week, and fix what is wrong.
