I had not been to UteFans since last fall.  I had been a long time visitor/poster over there.  It just became a political board.  I thought I would login this morning just to see if anything had changed.  The answer is NO.  Most every post had something to do with politics.  If you want a place to go to voice your opinions on national politics,…[Read more]

I understand that these are very subjective and are only one old man’s opinion.  They are neither right or wrong.  Just something to stimulate conversation while we wait for fall camp to begin.  Four…[Read more]

  • South:
    Utah
    Arizona
    ASU
    USC
    UCLA
    Colorado
    North:
    Washinton
    Oregon
    WSU
    Stanford
    Cal
    OSU
I have to believe when the PAC12 media day is over, the Utes will have received at least 80% of the votes for first place in the south.  I don’t see a strong argument for any other team in the south.  The north is a totally different story.  There…[Read more]

  • I have been a Ute football fan for over 50 years and I have never seen expectations so high, including my own.  Some seem to think that anything less than a conference championship will be a failure.
On the positive side, we have:
    A ton of starters returning
A senior QB and an experienced backup
One of the top returning running backs in the…[Read more]

  • I will be disappointed if the Utah football team …
For me it is “doesn’t win at least 10 regular season games.”  If we do that, things will take care of themselves.

  • I personally don’t like the idea a lot.  If a kid isn’t getting the playing time he wants or a coach gets after him – he just leaves.  That’s not a good life lesson IMO.  There is something to be said for sticking in there.  However, I understand that there are times when it just isn’t a good fit for a kid.
On the other side, I think Utah will…[Read more]

  • he could be two or even three.
Jordan Love from Utah State is a great QB in the MWC.  I am not sure what he could do in the PAC12, but I like him a lot.
I know it is considered a crime on this site to say anything nice about a BYU player.  Wilson is not an All American.  However, he is a skilled QB with what appears to be a lot of confidence.  I…[Read more]

  • Moss – 125 yards rushing per game
75 – 100 yards rushing for the remainder of the team; i.e. DHC, Huntley, Green, Covey, Simpkins, etc.
Huntley 225 – 250 yards passing per game
    450+ yards total offense average
35 points scoring per game average
If we can do this week-in-week-out, we will win a lot of games.
The key will be the offensive line…[Read more]

There are some things I like and I dislike about playing BYU first this fall.
I am glad we will get this game over right off the bat, so we can move on to what is really important in our season.
I do not like playing first because the local media will have all summer to discuss it and over-analyze the game.  Also, KW has not shown well in first…[Read more]

  • I feel that there is a lot of potential for our football team to be very good.  However, it doesn’t appear that a solid Oline has yet to come together.  This concerns me.  We have a great RB and two expeienced QBs, a stable of good receivers; but if we don’t have a good line – we will struggle on offense.
I understand giving KW a raise; although…[Read more]

  • When Andre Miller was a rookie, I went to a game where he played against the Jazz.  I sat on the third row and cheered for him.  I got into an arguement with a loyal Jazz fan who said it was wrong for me to be cheering for him.  Miller was a local hero and I loved to watch him play.  I wanted the Jazz to win that night; but I still cheered for…[Read more]

  • But, he isn’t going anywhere with the buyout he has.  We simply cannot afford it.  However, I think he should be on a very short leash.
We did see improvement from November to the end of the season; but we cannot score against teams with aggresive defenses.  I blame this mostly on our coach.  He should have had a better gameplan for Oregon.
    If…[Read more]

  • However, I believe that USC, Arizona and UCLA will be much better than last year.  I think Colorado will be similar and I don’t know about ASU.  We will be replacing Oregon and Stanford with OSU and Cal, and that should be in our favor.  I think BYU will be better than last season.  I have no idea about NIU and ISU should be a gimme.
    In the end,…[Read more]

  • We had a good team last year an many returning players.  But, our weakness is at offensive line.  Anybody who knows football will tell you – your offense will be nothing without a good line.  We were fair to good last season and we lost three of those guys.  Help me out – why should we feel like the Utes are a top 15 or even a top ten team.
    I…[Read more]

  • Are we looking better as a team because:
A – We have improved since the first of the year
B – The PAC12 is so bad, it make us look better
    C – A little bit of both
In mid December I was hoping for 6-8 wins in PAC12 play.  I wanted to see some improvement.  We were simply bad.  Now it is viable that we could go 12-6 in conference play.  We could…[Read more]

I wish he would have picked Utah.  But, I totally understand why he didn’t.  When we lose a local D lineman or D back, it’s a surprise because of the number of kids we put in the NFL.  However, our offense has not been very effective.  Puca may have been able to change that.  What comes first – the chicken or the egg.  I would have loved to have…[Read more]

  • This board may soon become another UFN.
Let’s please leave religion and politics of this board.  I can go to alot of places to get that stuff.
I love Utah sports (especially football).  I come here to read about that.  I don’t really care what any of you think about religion or politics.
    Go Utes

  • But, every now and then he comes up with a gem.  They were talking about recruiting and DJ asked if it would help teams recruiting against BYU if Sitake isn’t given an extension.  PK’s response was, “If you have to negaitve recruit against BYU you are in a world of hurt!”
