QBs – loaded with talent. I hope someone rises to the top. I’m optimistic that one of these guys will step up.
RBs – Plenty of players. I’m not sure if we have someone to take TJ’s place.
OLine – Plenty of experience, but not great talent across the board IMO.
Tight Ends – Loaded, talented and experienced!!!
Wide Receivers – Huge problem!!!…[Read more]

Wayne Howard played a significant role in where Utah is today with our football program.
I know many of you on here do not remember him or maybe haven’t even heard of him. In 1976 the Utah football program was in a dire position. We had won only 5 games in three years and BYU was exploding, getting national attention and going to bowl…[Read more]

I heard today that some draft prognosticators project Wilson over Trevor Lawrence. I personally don’t believe it. Nonetheless, Wilson has come out of nowhere to likely become a top-5 pick in the upcoming draft. So how did Zach go from a mid-level college recruit to here?
1. Colleges incorrectly evaluated his skills out of high school
2. He…[Read more]
ProudUte started the topic I feel bad for Anthony Davis in the forum NBA 1 week, 4 days ago
When an athlete suffers a serious injury – I feel bad. This is his life. I hope he has a complete recovery.
BUT – I do not feel bad for Lebron James. He has manufactured elite teams everywhere he goes. I hate it when players gather together their elite athletic buddies to create championship teams. I know that LBJ is one of the greatest if…[Read more]

Are from the west. The Jazz are now on top.
Jazz on top
What impresses me with the Jazz is that when they play poorly (Saturday night) they still find a way to win. They are not a one-trick pony. They have a lot of weapons. They are the 4th ranked offense and 2nd best defense in the league.
Are they for real? The next ten days will tell. …[Read more]

Good for him. I wish him well at USC except when he plays the Utes. The state of Utah has developed more than its share of great football talent. The likely second and third pick in the upcoming NFL draft are local kids.
Go Utes!!!
ProudUte started the topic TNT trashes Jazz. Was it deserved? in the forum NBA 1 month ago
I only saw part of the post-game but heard more about it on the news this morning. Smith doesn’t think they have a chance staying with the Lakers and Clippers because the Jazz is an offensive team that cannot play defense like the LA teams. They all said if the Jazz has an off night shooting, they will always lose, but the LA teams have other…[Read more]
ProudUte started the topic I'm cautiously optimistic in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
I believe we have reason to be optimistic about 2021 football. However, there are a lot of areas where we are unproven. For example:
– We do not have a QB who is proven in this program. Brewer had a great 2019 season at Baylor. I am hopeful that one of these four guys can step up and be the QB we have all hoped for.
– We had a proven running…[Read more]
ProudUte started the topic IMO Utah's basketball program is in a dire situation in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 month, 1 week ago
I attended my first Utah basketball game in 1965 at the Eiener Nielsen Fieldhouse when Jerry Chambers was the star. We went on to make the Final Four that year. I have loved Utah basketball ever since from Jackson, Newlin, Sojourner, Judkins, Vranes, Van Horn, Miller, Bogut, etc.
Now, I can hardly stand to watch this debacle of a program. IMO…[Read more]

Will he take Scalley as has been rumored?
If so, does KW bring back his good buddy Anderson as D coordinator? I know many of you don’t like GA. However, I know KW likes him a lot. I have no clue what KW would do.
ProudUte started the topic I was wondering this morning if we could beat the 2020 Alabama team in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Even if we had our all-time best players at every position.
As I started to think about it – I thought – yeah we could beat them.
I thought about an Oline that had players like Jordan Gross, Bolles, Kemoeatu, Beedles, etc.
Alex Smith at QB with Moss and Jamal Anderson at running backs, tight ends like Kuithe, Marv Fleming, and Murphy, and…[Read more]

They had the Heisman Trophy winner, Doke Walker winner, and Johnny Unitas winner all on one team. On top of that, they have offensive linemen who are about 350 pounds each. How can any other college team play against this?
I know they don’t cheat, but how do we compete with this. They can get basically any recruit that they want. I don’t know…[Read more]

I got thinking this weekend that arguably our two best players in the last twenty-five years were not even three-start recruits. I am talking about Alex Smith and Eric Weddle.
We have had some great players who were high-level recruits like JJ, Blackmon, and others.
I’m proud of what Alex and Eric did her and also did in the NFL. Besides…[Read more]

Will Gary Anderson ever be an assistant at Utah again?
It seems that he has a bad rep in coaching circles right now. I liked him as an assistant at Utah, but do we want the baggage he carries? I know coach Mac maintains a close relationship with him and I wouldn’t be surprised that he and Kyle are still close.
Thoughts?
