Greg Newman, one of our Sugar Bowl champions, has passed away.
I still remember the unexpected awe I felt as the first quarter of the Sugar Bowl played out. The announcers could barely believe what they were seeing, and I was right there with them. A little later in the game, I remember feeling a little dread, thinking that the Alabama machine was waking up, that we could see the game slip away. But the Utes kept going and finished them off convincingly. And Greg Newman was right there in the thick of it, harrying and taking down the Alabama quarterback.
