these types of Ultra, Ultra Conservative types scare the hell out of me.

Me too, and I’m a conservative. Don’t these people have something better to do.
can you imagine if a person was caught watching Deadpool, drinking a beer, wearing a Pac-Sun T-shirt while playing a coin pusher machine?
DEATH PENALTY
They’d better close down all the kids entertainment centers that give out those tickets that you can exchange for stuff, and the games at the fair… say what you want but that damn throwing the ball into the milk can almost cost me my life saving!!
I don’t mind mormon morality being figured into our laws, I really don’t. I just wish all these Californians moving into the state would be a little less hippie and vote so it wasn’t such a theocracy here. A sensible balance would be nice.
It wouldn’t matter. The local precincts are so strongly gerrymandered that nothing can change it.
The secret is to get people to attend their neighborhood caucuses and make their voices heard. Some polls show Utah being somewhere above 40% Democrat, but the local legislature is still >85% Republican. And that allows the legislature to move even further to the right at every turn. As a result the more moderate Republicans (i.e. a large percentage of the state) are almost seen as leftists by comparison.
This was discussed the other day. And some think there is no “proof” of gerrymandering here in Utah. The republicans did not try to get of Matheson, they didn’t carve up slc to dilute democratic votes and Al Mansell did not enjoy doing so.
It was interesting to look at the map for where you can play powerball. Every State was included exept for 3 pockets of two states each: Utah/Nevada; Alabama/Georgia and Alaska and Hawaii.
I’ve never seen one of these machines that pays out cash, just the ones where you can win tickets for prizes.
If there really are some that pay out cash, then they should be shut down as it is illegal to gamble in Utah.
Having said that, I am 100% in favor of legalizing gambling in some form in this state. If that ever happens, then throw these machines in a casino; kids shouldn’t have access to gambling machines.
Gambling is illegal in Washington, but it is legal on tribal reservation land. And we have reservations all over the place, so we have casinos all over the place. And ironically they are important to the economy of the state.
The tribes in Utah should make a push to do something similar.
Theoretically the Utes or Navajos could do this, but Wendover is still closer. My guess is that’s why there isnt a casino outside of Vernal.
There’s a store near me that has some of these. The day after this was posted I went in there and they all had messages posted on them saying they were evidence in a criminal investigation.
