Based on something Yormark said today, here’s my proposal for populating a 16-team playoff:
-5 top ranked conference champions get auto bids.
-4 top ranked conference champions get top 4 seeds.
-No byes.
-Remaining 11 teams invited based on blend of AP Poll, Coaches Poll, and computer rankings after removing the 5 conference champions from the rankings as follows:
1. Teams in top 11 of all three rankings are automatically included.
2. Only teams in top 15 of 2 of the 3 rankings may be considered for remaining spots.
3. Playoff committee fills the available slots from these teams.
4. Slots 1-4 are seeded based on their average ranking in the three polls.
5. Slots 5-16 are seeded based on their average ranking in the three polls.
