I was thinking it was going to be 8 at the most. I’m interested to see how the brackets are setup.
Most likely with the SEC and BigTen receiving the Top-4 seeds, and subsequent 1st-Rd bye, followed by the conference champions of the Pac-12, ACC, Big 12, a gratuitous midmajor, and then 4 more SEC and BigTen also-rans.
Excellent!
We would have been in the playoff last year under that format.
Yep. Most likely would have still drawn Ohio St too.
And FWIW, we also would have made it in, in 2004, 2008, and 2019 as well.
I think this saved college football from nfl-lite. As someone who is also a fan of college football in general, this is great news as it saves leagues like the MAC, mountain west and the others.
I know some people wish we would weed the have nots out but I think this sport is better with multiple leagues and teams rather than 2 leagues with just 20-30 each.
6 league champs and 6 at large bids seem to be the reports
How 12-team playoff would have looked in “21:
1st round
12 *Pitt at 5 UGA
11 *Utah at No. 6 NDame
10 Mich St at No. 7 Ohio St
9 Ok St at No. 8 Ole Miss
Quarters
1 *Bama vs. Ole Miss/Ok St
2 *Michigan vs. Ohio St/MSU
3 *Cincy vS. ND/Utah
4 *Baylor vs. UGA/Pitt
I like our chances a lot to make it to the semis
You can count on the SEC and Big Ten being over represented in the selections, and over seeded in the seeding. This format will be fairer, and more credible, than the four team format for determining an actual “National Champion”. However, I’ll reserve that assessment until I see how it plays out. Have never trusted the BCS or CFP, because the “fix” has always been the most consistent aspect of their agenda.
