With Marcus leaving this kid could be huge. Or, if Marcus stays, it could allow Chase to play more at LB. Either way, I think it’s a good pickup. Kid also had offers from Oklahoma State, Nebraska and Texas Tech

He’s also bought in, signed his letter right away. Sounds like he’s ready to play.

Not sure Ballard could play some SS, but we have more depth behind Chase than we do Marcus. I honestly think we will see Chase at LB anyway. He keeps getting bigger and bigger making the safety spot tough for him when it comes to the open field. Granted he pretty much played LB most of the time since he usually lined up in the box.
