I don’t care what songs they play in RES as long as they never, ever play Sweet Caroline again.

That’s my quarterback!
Thanks for everything, Lisk! Couldn’t think of a better sendoff for you than that second half vs. Wazzu. He’s a true Ute, wish him nothing but the absolute best in the future.

We’ll be playing him in a few years. Hope he does well and wish him all the best. Luckily, DT has never been a huge position of need for us.
Go Utes!
KiYi-Ute replied to the topic Pass Rush in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
These are great points. Something else to consider is that we are blitzing far less this year and really only rushing 4 on a majority of defensive snaps. We’re doing this to give as much support to our secondary as possible. It makes it harder for the pass rush to get home if we’re not also bringing an LB or CB/Safety on a blitz package.
Sure,…[Read more]

Tupai and Tafua are upperclassmen, they will have to move on from the program eventually (and sooner rather than later). I don’t see Fillinger or Carlton leaving after 4 games as true freshman. The expectation was not for them to come in and start day one anyway.
I know people might be concerned after seeing Brumfield and Wilmore enter the…[Read more]

KiYi-Ute started the topic Schedule / game change? in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Curious if we see another schedule change for this week. Both USC and Colorado are undefeated in the South. There is currently a scenario where they could both still be undefeated after this week. I would think that they would need to play one-another to determine who wins the division this year.
Anyone think that things get flipped so USC plays…[Read more]

I think it’s both, as you alluded to. OSU made adjustments by stacking the box, and we went conservative with the playcalling (and ran right into said stacked box).
I think Jake’s turnovers through the first two games have really impacted playcalling. I’m no football coach, but I’ve watched a lot of football. There are ways to be “conservative”…[Read more]

UCLA seems to be finding their footing this year, I’m not sure that I’d want them. For the sake of being bowl-eligible (if there are any bowls left at this point), I agree that I’d much prefer to play ASU or AZ.
Plus, it’s always fun to beat ASU.
KiYi-Ute started the topic Huntley Redshirt in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Scrolled past a tweet last night that got me thinking. Can you imagine if we hadn’t burned Huntley’s redshirt for a few meaningless plays in 2016? Or if the 4 game redshirt rule had existed then?
We could’ve had Huntley for this year, and next year because of this year not counting towards eligibility. Really give Rising (and Costelli) time in…[Read more]

Agreed. Bentley got thrown into a game without having any practice reps, after having COVID and with an O Line that did him no favors. Granted, he made some questionable decisions and mistakes.
Let’s see how he looks after a full week of prep and with a gameplan that’s drawn up to his strengths before passing judgement.

“Institutions of higher learning” are limited to practicing in “cohorts” of six to twelve individuals that cannot overlap. I believe that they are also limited to non-contact.
Not sure how you run a football practice with those restrictions.

I would suspect that the transfer portal is going to light up. Players are going to go wherever they can to play ball. One of many reasons that this could have huge ramifications for the program in the long-term if other conferences are somehow able to get things together to play.
