Are you saying Vegas does not like the Utes because the spread went from -5 (open) to -2.5 now?

It seems to me from the data above (from http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-basketball/matchups/ )  that 90% of the moneyline bets are for Utah and 70% of the against-the-spread are for Utah minue -2.5.   Would they not want to increase the spread to get more money to be bet on Washington plus the points?   Am I mis-reading this chart??

Line movement like that is indicative of sharp money. ie money from people who know what they are doing. Vegas contrary to popular belief does not really care about getting money on both sides. In the long run they know they will come out ahead of the avg bettor. Its the quants who they are wary of. They make money by making accurate lines.

And then some. This was a game I wish I still lived in St. George for. I would have drove down to Mesquite and put 100 on the Utes. It seemed to be a good bet. Normally Vegas is way accurate but I just didn’t think they were even close on this one.
