Yeah, just tuned in, Bowman with a couple good passes but drive stalls. Punt. Checking the box score, OSU still struggling with run game, 87 yards on the ground while their defense has allowed KSU 206. Ollie Gordon is getting his 5 yards per carry, though.

PlainsUte replied to the topic More NIL Fallout in the forum Football 1 week, 2 days ago
Another news outlet reported that NIL deals can’t be signed until player is at the relevant school (since they are in-state contracts), and promise was made while Sluka was still at Holy Cross finishing his degree. That was the reason the agent said they didn’t have it in writing. After arriving they tried to nail it down but were then being…[Read more]

Great point, LoL. Maybe he was supposed to take the $3k and parley it to $100k on the craps table.

Michael Allen left for playing time/carries issue not NIL. But it does point to a “me first” lockerroom.

Not really sure who is in the right in this one, but just to point out the RB left because he felt he was not getting enough carries (19 carries in 3 games, 108 yds). He received $0 NIL and said he wasn’t promised any.

I know the personnel have changed, but do we have a good breakdown of how the Utes got spanked last year. I know 7 pts were in garbage time when they should have kneeled down for the win — points that won’t be forgotten — but what else needs to be fixed from the Utes last meeting with Aridzona?

Right, got help from Mizzou dropping 4. Utes dropped OSU to 20. Iowa State 18. They so poopoo 22. KSU got knocked down 10 to 23.

PlainsUte replied to the topic What do we know about OSU? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 3 days ago
Right, they are passing a lot because the defenses they faced have been focusing on stopping the run, so basically they are challenging Bowman to beat them and he has. So the one-dimensional approach of stacking the box is not effective, but I trust Scalley to see what is going on and come up with better schemes to stop or contain OSU.

Yeah, but its gotten him in trouble before like totally dismissing a DUI charge for 20-year-old (Ollie Gordon), and a couple years ago he posted some pics of himself fishing in an OAN Network t-shirt that didn’t go over well with some of his players (during the George Floyd protests summer), and of course “I’m a man, I’m 40!!” viral video.

Turns out it was a refrigerator they had for beverages they have on hand for the staff and media. He went over to it and tried to move it away from the wall to get to the cord, then OSU staff helped him push it away and get the plug pulled.

I was raised Catholic in the Midwest. I was never a Notre Dame fan, in fact my parents went to another Catholic university that was local, so we were fans of that school. Notre Dame was just another team on the schedule, they had more affinity toward other schools that were run by the Jesuit priests (.e.g., St Louis, Creighton, Marquette,…[Read more]

He also said that he didn’t really know Coach Whittingham personally but the Utes are a team he had followed, even when the Utes were not in the same conference, because he likes to pay attention to teams that get the most out of their players — the ones that don’t get the high-end recruits like those teams that have 6-7 players drafted in the…[Read more]

PlainsUte replied to the topic Defense in the forum Football 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Gundy said in his press conference he’s encouraging Bowman to resist breaking out of the pocket, and that its working (vs Arkansas and Tulsa) resulting in more pass yardage (rather than scrambles that weren’t productive most of the time). So if that trend continues, I like the Utes’ chances as long as the secondary does well at coverage. Keep…[Read more]

I think OSU has been taking what the opposition gives them. Tulsa is very poor at defending the pass (ranked 124 in team passing efficiency defense), Arkansas is mediocre (#66) and it bit them in the 2nd half in Stoolwater.

I’m not a betting man (would take a lot of the fun out of seeing unexpected outcomes), looking for a great game and the line reflects a pretty much an even match-up likely to be decided late in the game. Psychologically I like that Utah had some struggles last week that they eventually overcame, while OSU pretty much cruised to a win. That…[Read more]
