Holladay Ute replied to the topic Utah Depth Chart in the forum Football 1 day, 12 hours ago
As a fan, I wish we could see the depth chart. It’s fun and it makes it easier to follow the team. At the same time, I think it’s the right decision. It might not make a huge difference, but this is a game of inches. You need to gain as many advantages (and eliminate as many disadvantages) as possible (more important early in the season).…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Tickets should now be available in the Utah360 app in the forum Football 1 day, 12 hours ago
I don’t really like it. Being rerouted to a webpage is annoying. And the interface is less appealing. And it was confusing at first b/c you have to log in through Apple (why?) and then log in again through Utah (via Paciolan). I don’t understand why they can’t have the same type of app (which is great) that the Jazz or Mammoth have.

Holladay Ute started the topic Here's how we can ensure happiness this season in the forum Football 6 days, 6 hours ago
So I guess home teams will be assessed 15-yard penalties if fans throw stuff onto the field this season. I have tickets to the game on October 18 in Provo and I will be pretty close to the field. I guess I could wear a red shirt underneath a blue shirt…
Maybe I should plan to attend every road game this…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Rodgers pushing Parker for RB1 in the forum Football 1 week ago
I would be disappointed if we don’t have a clear lead back this year (and I’d be disappointed if it isn’t Parker). And if we do have a lead back, then they will likely get 15-17 carries per game like Bernard, Thomas, Moss, etc. did. Jackson would have gotten more carries if he wasn’t so injury prone (I think he was more in the 10-15 range).

For all the reasons everybody already stated, I think a loss is totally possible. Much like us, they weren’t very good last year, but they weren’t terrible either (a lot of closeish games). Other than the TN QB transfer, what else did they gain/lose in the offseason?
I think it’s close to a 50/50 game, but I do think it’s more likely we win.…[Read more]

I’m most curious to hear commentary about the WR room, the RBs behind Parker, the defensive line, and the depth in our secondary.

I love Rising for what he did those two years. He seemed like an incredible leader and an awesome team player those two years. I try to remember him for leading us to two of the most memorable and successful seasons we’ve ever had.
In my opinion, the injuries were the biggest problem. If those had never happened, I think he probably would’ve…[Read more]

FWIW, I do think it’s important for Utah to focus “development” efforts on certain position groups, while avoiding others.
We are good at developing offensive lineman, running backs, and players on defense. That’s where I think Utah should focus most of its high school recruiting resources. If you’re going to spend time growing players, grow…[Read more]

I agree w/ a lot of the underlying points you’re both making, but I still think development of high school recruits (many of which will end up being 3-stars for Utah) is an important, if not essential, part of building a good team.
Important players we developed as 3-stars out of high school on last year’s team: Micah Bernard, Johnathan Hall, Tao…[Read more]

Not surprising, but disappointing given Rivals (and our own sources) said it was likely we’d get him. When he delayed his decision, I assumed our odds went down a lot.
It sounds like they were recruiting him as a WR (so I’m assuming that’s what he wanted to play). Would he have made a big instant impact in 2026? Unlikely. And would Utah be…[Read more]

Pretty much sounds like exactly what a biased and unrealistic BYU fan who doesn’t like Utah would say.
Total respect for Kalani if that’s how he handled the Retzlaff situation.
I laughed out loud when I read what the guy said about Bachmeier Under Troy Taylor, Stanford was 3-9 last year (and they were 3-9 the year before too). They were…[Read more]

Thank you, I am in total agreement with this. I have posted a number of responses about my religion on this website, but I have never brought it up first. And I have looked past a ton more than what I have responded to. I actually messaged Tony last year about this topic and he told me to ignore the people I don’t want to listen to, which is r…[Read more]

So it looks like the More Good Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that is independent from the church but which the church helps support financially through donations (they may or may not be a primary donor, but they are definitely not the only donor). By definition, it is a not-for-profit organization. So I’m not sure who is getting rich…[Read more]

I don’t want to get ahead of my skis but I think it is more likely that Utah outperforms Vegas expectations (~7.5 wins?) and that BYU underperforms (~6.5 wins?). Although I think those are reasonable numbers Vegas has come up with.
Before Retzlaff, I was already feeling good about our odds down there (which is why I already got tickets to the…[Read more]

On a side note, I think this is what BYU lost after last year?
Starting QB
Starting WR2 (who was statistically almost their WR1)
Starting WR3 (who is the reason we lost to them last year)
Starting LT
Starting C
Entire starting D line
Starting ILB (who was one tackle away from being their leading tackler)
Starting CB1
Starting CB2
Starting SSAnd…[Read more]

I am actually not that familiar w/ what you’re referring to here. Are you saying that the church pays social media influencers to say good things about them?
I know the church spends money on it’s missionary effort (which is not new or, in my mind, controversial) and I know that social media is a newer tool they are using within their missionary…[Read more]
