Holladay Ute replied to the topic Does BYU have more NIL money than Utah in football? in the forum Football 4 weeks ago
I said this in a different post somewhere else. None of us really know and so it’s all speculation based on available information. What we do know is that Utah retained most of it’s top players from last year (and not for a lack of interest from other teams). Fano and Lomu are both projected first-round draft picks. Snowden obviously had…[Read more]

I think Utah has more NIL money than people give it credit for. It’s just not as loud or flashy. Our top players would not have stuck around if we were on a different planet with our NIL offering.
Also, they have won two in a row close games against Utah. They are not dominating and have never dominated outside of the LE era. Why are people (…[Read more]

I don’t view this as a negative. Worked well for Vaki. Snowden is a great player, put him on the field as much as he can handle without getting injured or burned out.

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Tanuvasa showing why he transferred to the clown college: in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
I think it’s interesting to consider how both sides have responded. Tanuvasa keeps bringing it up and seems to feel the urge to continue justifying what he did (even by taking subtle digs at the U, which is disappointing). I think it just shows some insecurity and immaturity on his part. On the flip side, Whittingham just says they’ve moved on…[Read more]

You make a great point. I’m not trying to say that an organization doesn’t encourage or influence the behavior (intentionally or unintentionally) of it’s members. That’s obviously the purpose of any organization (including my church). And I’m also not saying that it shouldn’t hold itself accountable (and find ways to improve) if there were some…[Read more]

This is very ironic. People in this thread are criticizing a person (Tanuvasa) but not the organization (the University) for the person’s actions. That seems very fair and logical, right?!
When it comes to my church, people are criticizing the person AND the organization for that person’s actions. A bad apple like Tanuvasa surely doesn’t…[Read more]

There are 17-18 million members of our church worldwide. There will be bad apples and/or weirdos for sure. As there are in ANY organization, especially large ones. Name an organization that you believe in or are proud to be affiliated with and there is a 100% chance I can push back in the same way you and others are in this example. Let’s take…[Read more]

You’ve always had it out for the church. Your perspective could not be further from the truth. I don’t know a single person who approached marrying someone that way.
We believe in God. We pray about big decisions. Marrying somebody is the biggest decision of your life. We don’t try to use God to convince somebody to marry us lol.

We’re on the same page in terms of our distaste for tanking. Totally agree w/ there. You have to be very careful to not build a loser culture. It worked out for OKC and Houston though! So while I hate tanking (and what it stands for), I genuinely think it’s our best chance right now to try and get an MVP-caliber player that could take us back…[Read more]

Also, I think the Jazz have sold out like 300+ games in a row? They ranked above average in attendance last year despite being the worst team. I’m a season ticket holder and they raised my prices. They can’t do that if they’re struggling to fill the seats. The following is clearly still very strong. This obviously is likely to change as the…[Read more]

What do you think the odds are of drafting a Hall of Famer at #16? And what do you think the odds are of drafting a two-time MVP at #13? And then what do you think the odds are of drafting a Hall of Famer at #16 in one year and then drafting a two-time MVP at #13 in the very next year? Seriously, tell me what you think it is.
This might help.…[Read more]

You can look at the list of #1 picks in the last 10-15 years. Sure, there’s one or two that were big busts, but the vast majority of them were very good NBA players for multiple years (and many of them were all-stars). I’ll admit I don’t know the actual stats, but I’m sure you wouldn’t dispute that a higher draft pick correlates w/ a better NBA…[Read more]

I totally agree. But think about the implications of the draft being rigged. If they were caught doing that, there would be such massive lawsuits from all the small market teams, not to mention a huge proportion of the fan base would immediately boycott the product and never watch again (including me). There’s a ton of downside for them rigging…[Read more]

I 100% think it was the right decision to tank last year. Even with the lower odds of winning the lottery, it’s still the best chance the Jazz have to win a title. If you want the best chance to make the playoffs and flame out in the second round, then you should definitely do what the Jazz have done for the past 25-30 years since Stockton and…[Read more]

He can score, although I wish he’d have been a little more efficient from the field (45% FG and 30% 3PT). Really like the 75% FT shooting and the fact that he improved shooting efficiency across each level from freshman to sophomore year. A little turnover prone though (3+ per game). Looks like a very good defender. A great addition to the…[Read more]

If we gave up the lead to a team like Florida (which TT just did), it’s more understandable. Against a below average team (they weren’t even a 0.500 team) in a below average conference (the Big East didn’t even have a Sweet 16 team)?!

I didn’t pay enough attention to Dawes’ defense throughout the year, but I agree w/ your assessment on his defense in the Butler game today. It lacked focus and intensity (i.e. effort). It seems like he’s athletic enough and has the body to be a great defender and a monster rebounder, right?
