Defensively, I didn’t see anything fancy. Saw one safety blitz that the Qb rolled away from, and found Domo Hatfield in the endzone 🙂

But I really like what I saw. Guys stayed in their lanes against the run to prevent cutback lanes and during the pass rush to keep the Qb contained. Nothing fancy. Just bloodied the nose of the guy in front of them.

Stories like this are always awesome. I remember back in the 90’s, Nebraska had a deaf nose tackle (not a little deaf, completely deaf). If I remember he became an honorable mention All-american by his senior year.

And as awesome as his story was, this one is even cooler. Hope he sees action this year.

Went in 2009. Tame experience, but not one of my better road experiences. Won’t go back unless going with someone else who hasn’t been.

We stayed at the equivalent of the Bates Motel. Rained off and on the whole time.

The funniest part was at our dinner after the game. My wife and I sat down at a combo Sports Bar/Mexican joint. TDS was getting worked by Florida State. Some frat boys start razzing us because “Your team lost, now BYU is losing too!”. I turned around and said “Do I look like I give a fuck about BYU?!?” They got a kick out of that, and we chatted football for a bit.

I will add one more thing. Going back to the bowl game and what I saw the first two this year, Travis has vastly improved the mesh handoff on the option. He holds it long enough to get the linebackers flowing before he pulls and runs.

Watching Kendell on Saturday, he gave the hand in the belly fake before taking off, often too early. I believe some of that is Wilson getting 1st team reps and getting a good rapport with Booker. But there was a night and day difference between TW and KT executing the read-option mesh.

Last week, I was Cb and 1280 free. May have been the best use of my sanity. I think I need to try ignore them more often.

Honestly, a better Ute forum will be helpful for my college sports fix. I quit posting on Ufn about four years ago. I was on UB5, but had Tapatalk issues when I got my new phone where topics wouldn’t load. Since then, I have been exclusively Utezone. I like the site and subscribe, but it isn’t as active with the casual fans.

Best of luck in this new endeavour!

Going no huddle, even if you milk the entire play clock, means you preventative defense from making substitutions based on your personnel package. Teams are countering this with pre-planned substitutions based on down and distance, or just to give guys a rest. But if you are at the line ready to go, it removes their ability to substitute with purpose.

Because it is more active, already. The trick will be to keep it that way. UB5 had an initial buzz as well. It is up to all of us to make Uterus a place worth coming back to.

I don’t remember Covey, but I remember Saile F (I am NOT even going to try to spell his name) being visibly upset when he was wide open on third down and the ball was thrown four yards behind him.

I have always been a Pro-Wilson. But even I can admit he has had some cringe-worthy moments over the years. The difference I see this year is that his decision making has appeared to take a step-function improvement from years past. That gives me hope.
