Micah Bernard, Sophomore RB, 6-0 202
Micah has recently been the second option at RB for the Utes, he also got a chance to play CB in the Rose Bowl and ended-up with 10 tackles at CB. He played in all 14 games in 2021 gaining 523 yards in 87 carries (6.0 ypc) and two TDs by ground. He also caught 26 passes for 251 yards (9.6 ypc) and scored two more TDs by air. Micah is originally from Long Beach, California, Gahr HS. At Gahr he ground out 2411 yards his junior year earning Area Offensive Player of the Year. His senior year he had 1322 all-purpose yards and 15 TDs, mixing runs with pass receiving. For 2022 the opening day RB depth chart has a 4-man platoon, but I figure its going to be Thomas then Bernard as 1-2 or 1a and 1b if the coaching staff insists.
Kenzel comes to Utah from Eleanor Roosevelt HS in Corona (Riverside County), California. At Roosevelt Kenzel started as a QB but moved to RB, DB, and punt returner in his senior year. On defense he logged 15 tackles, 2 INTs, 2 passes defended and 1 fumble recovery in his senior year. He added offensive production of 21 carries for 55 yards and 5 rushing TDs, 7 catches for 129 yards (18.4 ypc) and 2 receiving TDs, plus 7 punt returns for 53 yards. At Utah, Kenzel redshirted in 2020 and did not see action in 2021. With Utah’s starting CB crew back at full strength, Kenzel may have a hard time seeing playing time in 2022, but will be someone to watch for the future.
