Econ 101
Having HQ in SF has clearly done tangible things for conference stature and perception, which has been in steady for about 4 years now.
Strong argument to move the game to Vegas
don’t forget how horribly expensive lodging is in the bay area
On the radio in Atlanta, Chuck Oliver, one of the prominent SEC college football “gurus” was stating that Alabama fans were essentially treating the SEC championship like their big bowl destination game, pushing up ticket prices, since it is a game they can easily attend. He expects significantly lower interest among Alabama fans in the semifinal game, and thinks the championship game would be an extremely hard sell, given that it is in the bay area, making travel difficult and expensive…so yes, even to the “big” programs, long distance travel does present attendance and ticket demand issues.
Also heard the info about how much the Pac 12 spends on rent in the bay area. Something like $8 million a year! Scott needs to go, someone else needs to guide the Pac 12. Get us better Tv deals, get us a better championship game, better refereeing, etc.
I dont understand what this is about.
Check out the article posted by AgouraUte above about the current state of the conference. It’s laying out reasons the Pac12 is slipping vs the other major conferences. It’s an eye-opener. The conference leadership’s love-fest with San Francisco is well outlined…
